We love the large open floor plan, the high ceiling height, and the ability to create 2 separate rooms with the included divider. Weather-Resistance When it comes to weather-resistance, the Coleman Octagon does a reasonably good job for a budget-friendly tent. The last major component of this tent is its no-see-um mesh, which is found on the canopy and windows. The primary poles in this shelter are built of solid stainless steel. As a result, they’re rugged enough to withstand nasty weather, even if that durability comes at the expense of portability. Fiberglass The fire retardant characteristic of our material ensures that the fabric will not flare dangerously out of control and will self extinguish, giving time to escape in the event of an emergency. The fly is massive, it has those 7 zippers, but they must be closed when it is raining. They did not make any roof vent. There are no floor vents either. So this is not a great design if you happen to be in an area with many hours of rain. You will have to rely only on the window that is on the door because it is protected by the brim. Pitching is straightforward and can be done in minutes by one person; start by laying the inner tent out flat and inserting the shorter steel poles into the central hub and the corner connectors. Add the longer upright poles and clip them to the inner then peg it all out and add the flysheet over the top. It can all be done in 10 minutes, max.
