About this deal

Has anyone else tried this yet? Did it help your scalp and eczema too? Does it work for psoriasis? I would love to hear from anyone else who has used rhassoul clay to wash their hair. You may also be interested in reading

or more suppliers used in the making of this product are part of the L’Oreal Solidarity Sourcing Program.I imagine some of you are wondering if this wash is safe to use on color-treated hair. According to one manufacturer who makes a similar clay wash it will strip commercial dyes but not henna-based dyes. I have not tested this.

Here are my good and bad bits from using rhassoul clay as a shampoo. The Pros of washing hair with rhassoul clay Vinegar derived from non-organic sources is likely to either be a product of GMO corn or petroleum. Over-washing your hair is often the culprit. It may be hard to resist but if you scrub your hair every day it will strip the scalp of its natural oils, causing it to stimulate the production of even more oil. Worse case scenario, washing too often can cause dandruff and even excess hair breakage. Clay #2. Bentonite. Another popular type of clay, bentonite, is widely used as a hair cleaner and softener, per the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).With over five years’ experience in beauty and health journalism, Florence has written for ELLE, Women’s Fitness, Sister Magazine, National Geographic Traveller and many more, with a strong sustainability angle thread through much of her work. Our panel of 450 testers — with hair textures ranging from straight to afro — tried 33 brands of shampoo and their matching conditioners for two weeks. The ingredients and components of this product are sourced from suppliers committed to respect the fundamental principles of the UN on labor standards. Clay, on the other hand, has a much higher pH which can leave hair dull and gummy. Fortunately it’s very simple to restore your hair’s natural pH after washing – simply follow with the shine boosting rinse listed below! Do you want to give gorgeous, handcrafted gifts for family and friends, without spending a bunch of time on them?

Putting your clay shampoo to use requires the same steps as a traditional hair care routine, but we’ll walk you through it. First, hop in the shower and wet your mane. Then reach for your clay shampoo and pour a dollop of the formula into the palm of your hand. Massage the shampoo onto your strands, working it into a lather. Thoroughly rinse with lukewarm water before moving onto the next step. STEP #2: CONDITION YOUR STRANDS Less scratching– Normally when I wash my hair it itches even in the shower and I have a bit of a dig. When I’m combing it out it’s nearly always impossible to avoid the temptation to use the comb or brush to have a good scratch of my scalp. I can’t help it, the best method being a plastic comb and a see saw action across the offending itching bit. Of course this doesn’t do the scalp any good but it sure feels amazing. When I’ve washed with rhassoul clay, like this morning, I never feel the need to scratch my scalp. I only just realised this today after a rhassoul wash.As you can probably guess, clay shampoo is, in fact, shampoo formulated with clay. According to the Molecular Diversity Preservation International (MDPI), clay minerals are used in hair care products due to their ability to absorb high levels of substances such as greases and toxins. In fact, this is why certain shampoo formulas containing clay are considered effective against dandruff. Of course, every shampoo needs its perfect conditioner match. The L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Conditioner is a must for finishing your clay shampoo routine. Formulated with three refined clays, the conditioner works with your shampoo to purify oily roots while hydrating dry ends. The result? Beautifully fresh and clean hair from root to tip! To put this conditioner to use, apply the conditioner from mid-length to ends. Let the formula work its magic for one to three minutes before rinsing thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Less drying– It won’t dry your skin like normal shampoos can. I don’t get the dry flakes and tightness I usually get after washing so my scalp is much less angry and itchy too. Another consideration when transitioning to natural shampoo is the use of silicone in many commercial brands. Silicone coats the hair much like plastic to give it slip and shine. If you have been using a shampoo with silicone or other chemicals your hair will need to detox – a process that can take up to a few weeks depending on the types of product previously used. During this process hair can feel very dry and tangle easily. As the follicles shed the coating they will begin to be able to drink in moisture, but this can take time. For the first time, L'Oréal Paris Laboratories have combined 3 Refined Clays to create its first re-balancing range revealing perfectly balanced, beautiful hair. Time consuming– It does take me ages to wash using the clay. Not only do you need to mix up some clay with water; this doesn’t take long but can be a bit messy and every second counts when you have deadlines and trains to catch. It also takes longer to wash; once the clay is massaged into the scalp and hair it needs combing through and working in. Then it needs rinsing, before then pouring over the appl cider vinegar conditioner, which also needs combing through and rinsing with cold if you can bear it. When I’m in a rush I just don’t have time for this. In between rhassoul clay washes I’ve been using Barefoot SOS or Allergenics.Like we mentioned, there are three types of clay that stand out in the hair care world, and we’re here to share the details on each one. Co-washing only made me want to wash my hair more. Literally – I would count down to the weekend when I could finally use shampoo again and relieve my scalp. It was counter-productive as a way to give my hair a break from shampooing since it only made me miss it more! Blend ingredients in a clean contain. Pour about 1/2 cup over hair and allow to sit for 2-3 minutes, then rinse. Cool water is best because it helps the hair cuticle close, but warm is okay. Questions?
