About this deal

They look for vulnerability in their victims. That’s how con artists get away with it. They are looking for people to put their trust in them. That’s the art of the con,” Robson said. “All you end up thinking about is this individual and how you want to please them. So they’ve certainly got this control over you.” With someone like Joe, he’s just such a good actor. I think he could do anything. I guess you could make the case that this is against type for him, the part that he plays [a villain, while he usually plays nice guys]. I’m generally not thinking in those terms.

It’s Vivien’s story Robson focuses on in the first three episodes of the series. (At least four more instalments are on the way.) Vivien is single after a 30-year marriage, an empty nester, looking for a new relationship. Davis had met Charlie at the library when he went to research ranches but was not interested in her since she was not his usual type. However, once he saw her buying a red dress (very different from her usual style) he had second thoughts about her suitability. He asks Charlie to be his fake fiance for one evening and she agreed. But it turned out to be much more than one date! It’s so funny the ways in which we view male and female characters. We’re making great strides, but we would never expect Humphrey Bogart when he’s playing a Philip Marlowe–style character to look like he’s on the verge of a nervous breakdown. We’re still catching up to the idea that a woman could have an inner thought life that is extreme without showing it on the outside. Something that was key to my set of goals as a teenager who was falling in love with like cinema of the ’70s was to find a way to play female characters that felt more like Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now. You know, the opening scene when he’s looking up at the fan, and I don’t know what he’s thinking until he stands up and is covered in blood and The Doors are playing, and I’m like, “Oh, shit, I guess that’s what he was thinking.” I always made it a personal goal to get to be like the boys. When you combine two very strong personalities, who each think they have a life plan, add in some family dynamics, (aren't they all dysfunctional?) and try to plan a last minute wedding, you can not help but result in a humorous read. Before they could get away, Rotten Tomatoes talked to Johnson and Lyonne about this season and plans for the next. We hope they weren’t lying.

Johnson: That, to me, was something [I wanted] from the very start. And that’s part of the reason why I wanted it to be a road show; why I wanted to get Charlie on the road and living off the grid. I’d just made a movie, Glass Onion, which is in that very fancy world of rich people. And exploring the corners of America that aren’t generally on television seemed, to me, much more interesting. Reaching out to Robson to confirm his identity, Robson’s investigation would see her launch herself into a seven year investigation spanning several continents.

CHASING CHARLIE (THE TEXAS TWO--STEP SERIES) by Kathy Charmicael is a good romantic comedy based in Southern Texas. The description of the Southern Texas city life versus life on a large cattle ranch. The story is about a young successful business man Davis Murphy. Who has stepped up to take over the family title business "Murphy Title" when his dad dies. He has built the business to the point that he can hire a CEO to run the company so he can pursue his dream of running a ranch raising horses.Vivian had some information but he had told her so many lies, like that he was the son of a famous New Zealand family. It was easy to verify that this was not correct. Then I did some surveillance on him and through the information he had given to a hire car company, discovered his name. "She was in her fifties and after her marriage ended, she wanted new experiences." Charlie confused me. She is supposed to be a librarian and someone who doesn't take risks. She needs adventure and to live life. I can appreciate that, but her strong personality didn't seem to jive with that early description of her. She was a lot tougher than that and gave Davis and everyone else some serious sass. I liked that she was strong, but she spent too much time refusing to be with Davis. Once we find out why, it was a pretty weak description. If elaborated on, I am sure it could of been a beautiful understanding between them, but it was literally brushed over. There was a lot of issues the characters just assumed the situation or figured out on their own. The attention to detail was not there. Rian, are you worried about typecasting yourself? You did two Knives Out movies, which are whodunnits centered around Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc, and you are doing this show. At the top of the podcast, Julia tells us that her job as a modern-day private investigator mainly involves using open-source intelligence and information available online to try to solve cases. It’s helped her bust Nigerian crime gangs and find missing persons. But most of her work comes from people who have fallen for online catfishing, conning people out of both time and money. Charlie is at a point in her life where she wants to experience new things and push herself. I thought they were cute together and had fun chemistry. I did not get her aversion to cowboys. At all. I kept waiting for some big explanation (and maybe I missed something) but none really came. When she was six her parents died and she was raised by her two adoring and over protective older brothers. Both were successful ranchers and rodeo cowboys. I guess she was just burned out on the lifestyle? I would have liked if we could have seen why she was so against it. Yes, her brothers were a tad overprotective and rodeo cowboys do risk their lives, but it wasn't enough to explain why she was adamant about never marrying a cowboy. If anything, I would kind of expect someone with her upbringing to be totally into the lifestyle. Overall, it was a fun escape and cute story.
