About this deal

While this side of him was never seen in the original timeline, he appeared to have a sense of honour and importance for his title at the school. This was proven by the fact that in one of the alternate timelines, in which he was humiliated during the Triwizard Tournament, this feeling of embarrassment eventually led him to join the Death Eaters. This means that if his pride or status had ever been shot down enough, this feeling of anger would have turned him over to the Death Eaters. Furthermore, this descent into darkness led him to become ruthless, as he murdered Neville Longbottom in his services of Lord Voldemort. Robert Pattinson has openly stated that he would rather want to play Cedric Diggory than playing Edward Cullen from the Twilight series. If you are fully grown, you will be best suited to beech if you are rich in understanding and experience.

In death, Cedric proved to be an inspiration to many students at Hogwarts. His death was heartfelt and was tragic enough to cause even those who disliked Harry to believe his claims of Voldemort's return. During the school year after Cedric's death, Hogwarts was under the watchful eyes of the British Ministry of Magic with Dolores Umbridge, a high-ranking Ministry official being employed as Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. She constantly told students that Harry lied about Cedric's death and refused to teach any practical magic. [18] Cedric Diggory: " So. We're playing against each other again!" Harry Potter: " I s'pose." Cedric Diggory: " So... tell me... How did you get your name in?" Harry Potter: " I didn't. I didn't put it in. I was telling the truth." Cedric Diggory: " Ah... okay. Well... see you, then." — Cedric being friendly towards Harry Potter [src] Cedric Diggory ( September/ October 1977 – 24 June 1995) was a British wizard who was the son of Amos Diggory and his unnamed wife. He started attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1989, and was sorted into the Hufflepuff House. During his time at school, he was a prefect and captained the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, playing as Seeker. In his sixth year Cedric put his name forward to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. He was present when Madam Pomfrey was petrified, and later recounted the event to Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, Jacob's sibling, and Penny Haywood. [15]Harry Potter: " So, according to you, Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord, did he?" Dolores Umbridge: " Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident." Harry Potter: " It was murder. Voldemort killed him, and you know it." — Harry arguing with Dolores Umbridge over Cedric's death [src] Messer, Lesley (23 June 2013). "Henry Cavill Reveals the Roles He Didn't Get". ABC News . Retrieved 7 July 2020.

When the wearer tapped the badge, it glowed in bright green and said, “Potter stinks .”Cedric Diggory tried to convince his friends and other Hogwarts students not to wear the badges. In the film adaptation, he doesn’t seem too upset by them and hides the smirk when his friends make fun of Harry Potter. The Weighing of the Wands Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come, when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory." — Albus Dumbledore's eulogy to Cedric [src] Given Cedric's relatively smooth and successful participation in the Triwizard Tournament, he was a skilful and competent wizard in his own right. [2] He was also an accomplished Quidditch player. [6] It is possible that the wand entry on Pottermore may be a reference to Krum's wand, as Ollivander states that hornbeam wands generally lean towards wizards with a lifelong obsession. Krum is said to be obsessed with Quidditch. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Cedric attempts to forfeit Hufflepuff’s Quidditch victory after discovering that the Dementors had caused Harry to fall from his broom. However, even Oliver Wood called it a clear-cut win for Hufflepuff. Cedric’s inclination to forfeit due to Harry’s accident is an example of the King’s sincerity, compassion, and diplomacy.Something to keep in mind: ‘Every single wand is unique and will depend for its character on the particular tree and magical creature from which it derives its materials. Cedric’s death had a profound effect on Harry. Despite losing his parents as a baby, this was the first proper time someone he truly ‘knew’ died in front of him, as an indirect result of a decision he made. This was the death that gave Harry the ability to see Thestrals, and the death that haunted his dreams for a time afterwards. The fact it happened to such a noble and just person who wouldn’t take that cup, thus ensuring he would get caught in the crossfire through his own decency, made it even worse. On 24 June, Cedric was joined by his parents, who had been invited to watch the Third Task. During the meeting, his father confronted Harry over the coverage he had been receiving in the press at the expense of his son. Cedric tried to calm him down and explain that it was not Harry's fault, then apologised to Harry. [2]

A lot of people, especially Hufflepuff house, did not take kindly to Harry Potter being named a fourth Champion. Many people wore large badges on the front of their robes that said, “support Cedric Diggory, the real Hogwarts champion.”

Not just a pretty face

Cedric Diggory is always a little embarrassed by the behavior of his father. His father takes great pleasure in boasting about how his son has beat Harry Potter, bringing up as the families walked to their portkey to head to the Quidditch World Cup how Cedric had won the Quidditch match the previous year and beat Harry Potter. During moments like these, Cedric Diggory constantly apologizes and tells Harry Potter to ignore his father’s comments. His father is a bit rude and tactless, but Cedric Diggory is humble and kind no matter what. Cedric tries to set the record straight and correct his father, but his father focuses only on how proud he is of his son for beating Harry Potter. a b West, Kelly (2 August 2016). Harry, illegitimately chosen to represent Hogwarts way before he was ready, found himself unfairly compared to the much more accomplished Cedric – who was Hufflepuff’s Quidditch team captain, a prefect and a more experienced wizard. For an awkward teenage boy still finding his feet, going up against the likes of Cedric Diggory would be an absolute nightmare. I said to him, I said — Ced, that'll be something to tell your grandchildren, that will... you beat Harry Potter !" — Amos Diggory bragging about Cedric [src] First year As the first Hogwarts Champion in Goblet of Fire, Cedric strives to bring honor to Hogwarts and Hufflepuff. I think he also views the competition as an opportunity for camaraderie. Just after the Champions are announced, Cedric seems delighted to be “going up against each other again ”(282). During the Tournament, Cedric and Harry form a cautious friendship and help each other with each of the tasks. Harry tells Cedric about the dragons, and Cedric tells Harry how to work out the egg’s clue. To forge this kind of relationship with his competitor is another example of the amiable fellowship of the King of Cups.Harry Potter: " Cedric, the first task is Dragons." Cedric Diggory: " What?" Harry Potter: " Dragons. They've got four, one for each of us, and we've got to get past them." Cedric Diggory: " Are you sure?" Harry Potter: " Dead sure. I've seen them." Cedric Diggory: " But how did you find out? We're not supposed to know..." — Harry informing Cedric about the first task [src] a b Trombetta, Sadie (30 July 2016). "What Would Cedric Be Like If He Had Lived?". Bustle . Retrieved 16 July 2020. Cedric's death becomes a point of trauma and guilt for Harry and continues to haunt him, which leads him to form Dumbledore's Army as a way to help teach his fellow students to protect themselves in battle. His death is also a focal point of the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Amos Diggory was immensely proud of his son and his achievements, especially when he beat Harry Potter during a Quidditch match in 1993, dismissing Cedric's insistence that Harry had fallen off his broom because of Dementors just before Cedric caught the Snitch. During the Triwizard Tournament, Amos was outraged that the Daily Prophet completely overlooked the fact that Cedric was also a Hogwarts champion in favour of Harry Potter, and made no mention of him at all. Despite his son trying to point out that it wasn't Harry's fault, Amos countered by remarking that Harry hadn't done anything to correct them. [2]
