About this deal

Major IV can be charged wirelessly, so it’s now easier than ever to charge and go. You can rest your headphones neatly on a charging pad, and matte silicone piping on the ear cap ensures it won’t move around. Spend less time looking for your charger in a mess of wires and more time listening to your music. You will receive a USB-C charging cable in the box. Wireless charging pad is not included. Marshall and Zound first collaborated in 2010 in a deal that resulted in Marshall’s range of headphones and Bluetooth speakers. Marshall Amplification was was formed in 1962 and remained under family ownership for more than 60 years until March 2023, when they were sold to Swedish speaker manufacturer Zound Industries. Marshall still own a 24% stake in the company, making them the largest shareholders in the newly-titled Marshall Group. The takeover deal covers Marshall Amplification and its subsidiaries Marshall Records, Marshall Live Agency and Natal Drums

A fair question, seeing as Marshall’s focus for decades was guitar amps. The answer is, at least for some models (the ones featured in this guide, basically), very. The brand channels a formidable live music legacy, and that plays a part in how they’re tuned and their distinctive style look. The same goes for Marshall speakers, too.On-ears don’t tend to offer as many features as their over-ear cousins, but that doesn’t mean what features are present on the Major IV aren’t worthy of interest. The look of the Major IV differs little from the Major III in a wider sense – but that hasn’t stopped Marshall from claiming a few tweaks.

Meet Major IV, the iconic headphones from Marshall with 80+ solid hours of wireless playtime, wireless charging, and a new, improved ergonomic design. With more than three full days of power, you can stop worrying about your headphones dying on you when you need them. Custom-tuned dynamic drivers deliver roaring bass, smooth mids, and brilliant treble for a rich, unrivalled sound that you’ll never want to turn off. SIGNATURE SOUND We pushed our selection of Marshall headphones through a range of music genres - from bass-heavy bruisers, riff-filled wonders and gentle acoustic pieces to get a proper feel for what they can deliver. The Major IV deliver few surprises if you’ve ever listened to a pair of Marshall headphones before. Outputting through their 40mm dynamic drivers, the mid-range is fairly crisp in tone, high notes are well defined and sharp, while bass is surprisingly big for an on-ear pair.

You will receive a USB-C charging cable in the box. A wireless charging pad is not included. IMPROVED ERGONOMIC DESIGN A play of Patrice Rushen’s Forget Me Not, the bouncy beat is more vibrantly conveyed and engaging with the Marshalls – there’s a sense of fun here that can’t be heard as much on the Status. If, somehow, you find yourself short of battery, then the Major IV support fast-charging (15 minutes for a mammoth 15 hours), while there’s wireless charging support, too – a feature I haven’t often seen in headphones that aren’t true wireless. A charging pad isn’t supplied with the Major IV, so there’s just a USB-C charging cable for charging purposes. For one, the Major IV offer super stamina. Thirty hours is usually the benchmark, but the Major IV go beyond with a quoted 80+ hour figure, so there’s little reason to manage battery life with this set of headphones. Victoria Marshall added: “With Marshall Group, the potential to further impact an ever-modernising music industry is a highly genuine one. Together, we will preserve the Marshall legacy and shape the future of ‘Live Loud’. Having worked alongside my father during his later years, I know he would be excited at this direction and the potential to reach a larger worldwide audience with innovation and passion which he always had in spades.” How we test
