About this deal

The ICI land used to be home to Ardeer golf club. The original course was 9 holes in the Sandyhills area of Stevenston. Although the course has since long gone the original red sandstone clubhouse remains. Graham, Eric J. (1997). Robert Reid Cunninghame of Seabank House. Ayr: Ayrshire Archaeological and Natural History Society. ISBN 0-9527445-2-X. The loss of species and interactions are shown in gray. Three types of interactions are possible: (1) mammal-seed—only the mammals disperse the seeds; (2) mammal-dung beetle—there is no seed dispersal; (3) mammal-dung beetle-seed—both mammals and dung beetles disperse seeds. In moderately disturbed or fragmented ecosystem (B), dung beetles can switch their feeding preferences to a different dung. This does not happen in heavily disturbed or fragmented ecosystem (C), so the beetle and its interactions are lost. This wonderful, dog-friendly apartment benefits from a designated off-road parking space for one car, a first-floor sitting room with Juliet balcony and a spacious double bedroom; the perfect setting for couples and their beloved canine companion looking to explore Perthshire. If collections overrun you will be asked to wait in your vehicle and wait for our instruction, while your goods are made ready.

A) Dweller beetles lay eggs directly into the dung where the larvae spend the entirety of their development. (B) Tunneller beetles dig tunnels in the soil where they form small balls of dung known as brood balls. The female lays eggs into those brood balls, where the larvae will feed. (C) Roller dung beetles sculpt a ball of dung and roll it away to safety, before burying it into the soil and laying eggs. During the Second World War three of the holes were taken over by ICI for war duty and became a barrage balloon station. The three holes were restored after the war ensuring that the course was as good a test as it ever was. Ardeer holds Ayrshire's largest populations of dark green fritillary and grayling butterflies and a number of nationally scarce moths, including sand dune rarities such as coast dart and shore wainscot. Over 100 species of spider have been recorded at Ardeer with wolf spiders (Lycosidae) being particularly prominent, with half of the species on the Scottish list present. Among these the nationally scarce dune specialist Xerolycosa miniata is particularly noteworthy, being mainly a southern species. Environmental Impact Assessment Report Volume 1 - Non Technical Summary - Ardersier Port Development Those seeking a more vibrant nightlife can explore the nearby city of Dundee which is home to a myriad of bars and pubs including the Abandon Ship and Clancy’s Irish Bar. Any stated colour and/or clarity grades given for any diamonds or coloured gemstones are of the opinion of Capes Dunn only and are to serve as a guide only, with the given limitations due to stone settings and use of standard, non-laboratory, gemmological equipment.Ardersier has excellent accommodation and friendly pubs to slake your thirst after a long walk in the fresh sea air. Synthetic diamonds (man-made, lab grown), especially in small ‘melee’ sizes, are becoming more common in the market place. Due to the great difficulty in detecting the synthetic origin of diamonds without the necessary laboratory equipment, it is not possible for Capes Dunn to guarantee a diamond is not synthetic, therefore there will be no comment made on a diamond’s natural or synthetic origin, unless there is accompanying documentation obtained from an internationally recognised Gemmological Laboratory stating such. Treatments to improve/enhance the colour, clarity and durability of coloured gemstones are now regarded as standard practice in the jewellery trade, treatments include, but are not limited to; heating, oiling, use of resins and other fillers, impregnation, irradiation, use of coatings and dyes. These treatments may be permanent, semi-permanent or temporary. It should therefore be assumed, unless expressly stated to the contrary, that all coloured gemstones have been treated in some way. The facility will additionally offer its marine facilities for the upgrade and maintenance of existing assets.Robin Campbell tells a story of the murder of the Earl of Eglinton's wife on Ardeer by Nigellus, the Abbot of Kilwinning Abbey in the 16th century. Pilgrims came to Kilwinning Abbey partly because of the miracles that were performed there and the Earl of Eglinton, a follower of John Knox, strongly voiced his disbelief and also stated that he would stop paying tithes to the monks. In revenge the abbot arranged for the Countess of Eglinton to be waylaid on her customary journey to Ardrossan by way of Ardeer. The monks took her to a ruined bothy, below which was a stone lined cellar; she was imprisoned here and starved to death. The earl was never able to find her, although her drowned servant was discovered on the beach and tales of the screams of a woman's voice hidden in the crashing of the waves at Ardeer and of a distressed woman who vanished when approached began to spread. After the earl had died the last monk of Kilwinning Abbey is said to have confessed to his part in this awful crime and thereby revealed the truth behind the unexplained disappearance of the Countess of Eglinton. [18] Archaeology [ edit ] Pre-history There are few businesses based here and one in particular that is worth a visit is the Connage Cheese Dairy. You can watch their multi-award winning cheeses being made while enjoying a coffee and cake in their cafe. Community Halls As late as 1902 it was recorded that "Within recent years a number of little lochs, or dubbs, existed between Kilwinning and Stevenston, the memory of which, at least, has been preserved in the name of Dubbs Farm." [8] Ardeer House, Castlehill, Bartonholm, and Bogside were on the coast. [8] The geology of the area shows river deposits along the course of the old river bed.
