About this deal

That said… I would still call this release worth your money. The restoration job isn’t as immediately night-and-day as the one pulled on Yes, Madam! – the original Hong Kong trailer included as the lone additional bonus looks acceptable enough – but is still fantastic. If you compare the clips of the California shootout, for example, on prior prints to the 2K restoration here, you’ll notice that the darks are less muddy and the interior lights glare much less. leap toward international superstardom, while the subsequent two films feature Cynthia Khan. If there's a "through line" tethering the films I’m always more than happy to rewatch classic Hong Kong action in newly polished transfers though, so I ventured on and my thoughts follow. Royal Warriors or Yes Madam is defined as the "first" film, and whether or not all four are indeed a traditional "series", the first two Yes, Madam doesn’t entirely come together, because the two sides of the film just don’t mesh, and for me the energy drops a lot when it’s wading through long comedy sequences (including one with guest appearances from Sammo Hung and Richard Ng). When the focus is on the action, it’s stunningly good, but that’s really only about a third of the film, and for my liking, that ratio is the wrong way round.

(And I promise I’m not just saying this because I am friends with female critics and film historians who would champ at the bit for a chance to get work on these.) note that In the Line of Duty didn't even crop up in any original title until the third film).
