About this deal

It adjustable to your fitness level, this results in the right level of resistance to suit your needs. For those seeking muscle mass then this isn’t for you. For everyone else, then the Wonder Core 2 needs some serious consideration. The Wonder Core 2 requires some assembly when you first receive it and although it is part assembled it will still take around 35 minutes to put together. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and most people will be absolutely fine in setting up this machine.

The resistance bands can be used to provide a unique rowing system that can be performed either vertically or on an incline. They can also be used to perform resistance-based isolation exercises such as tricep extensions, bicep curls and the chest fly. The most obvious difference between the WonderCore Smart System and the WonderCore 2 is the size. The WonderCore 2 is substantially bigger than its predecessor, coming in at H25, W85, D33cm and almost 11Kg in weight. The built in twisting seat goes 90 degrees in each direction, and opens up a lot more options for exercising. It is the resistance from stopping the seat twisting too far which will give you all the benefits. The arm pulley system can be used in two main ways. Either you have this out in front of you or behind you. In front this will act like a rowing machine, while you’ll need to pull up from behind – giving a completely different workout.

To answer the question ‘does the Wonder Core 2 work?’, we would have to say yes, it does. However, you could perform most of these exercises either at home with a mat or at the gym with the help of a few machines and accessories. The difference with the Wonder Core 2 is that you are getting access to a lot of different exercises from one machine, it can be used at home, and it allows you to push your range of motion further to provide your muscles with even more of a stretch. Should You Buy Wonder Core 2? I have to admit that after my time with the Wondercore 2 I did start to see results. The first few times I used the machine I could tell that I was doing something over and above my normal routine, as I did experience muscle burn. After the 2 weeks I did experience better ad muscle definition. As opposed to the WonderCore Smart, the WonderCore 2 is a chair like system. It has rowing cables attached and can act as a full bench for you core workout routines. The Wonder Core 2 is definitely one of the best ab machines of 2019 and really earns the five star rating from us in our Wonder Core 2 review. It is so well-made it actually wouldn’t look out of place in the gym. The design is pretty impressive as it includes a twisting seat (perfect for targeting those obliques), pulley-based resistance bands (with up to 6 levels of resistance), and the folding and spring-loaded frame allows you to perform movements that go beyond the 180 degrees that floor-based exercise might limit you to.

We’d be tempted to say that if your the kind of person who likes to mix and match a broad range of exercise options, so you’ll only be using your WonderCore device at most a couple of times a week, then you might be best to go for the WonderCore Smart System as it is a bit smaller (and cheaper). Its design means that you get a full 180 degree range of motion giving you a lower, middle and upper ab workout.

The Wonder Core 2 comes partly assembled, the instruction manual is easy to follow and you should have this up and running in around 30-45 minutes. You will be glad to hear that a detailed well documented instruction manual is provided which makes a change to some cheaper Chinese systems we have put together in the past. Don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with any of these exercises – the WonderCore 2 comes with both a training guide and a workout DVD. Do I Need to be Fit to Use the WonderCore 2? The final element of this machine that we really like is the twisting seat. This allows you to target your abs and obliques through all planes of motion that allow you to target the muscle fibres in the direction that they travel through the body.

The other factor to consider is where you intend to train the most. If you are predominantly going to work out at home and have limited space then this is perhaps the best all-round choice. For those who have a gym membership and are looking to supplement with some cardio or core work at home then for the cardio this isn’t really going to cut the mustard; however, for the core it certainly will. One item that works is the FITT Cube. This is essentially a gym in a box, it lets you work out all the main muscle groups in a compact, easy to store unit. It won’t give you the cardio of the rowing function you get with the WonderCore 2 – though you certainly get a lot of workouts in a single unit. More info in my Fitt Cube Review here. Likewise, the WonderCore 2 comes in closer to the 11KG mark, so again, it is probably feasible to collect it and carry it home, but if you do get the option of free or low-cost delivery, we’d certainly consider it.

The original WonderCore built on a crunch trainer – while the WonderCore 2 is built on a small bench setup. This adds exercises to the new model which were simply not possible on the popular original. This versatility adds arm, shoulder and leg workouts to the core / abs (which the original WonderCore was excellent for). What you will find with the Thane WonderCore 2 is that the range of motion is bigger than for similar products. If you have done ab workouts before, you’ll already know that the last few centimetres make all the difference.
