About this deal

Of course, as has been said, it is possible to correct this to some extent by correcting the camera response curve. However, I am also aware that the HDRIs created with this method do not reach the high quality results that were initially shown. As PTGui Pro is commercial software, I will now explain how to use free software only. The time and processing time will increase. Stitch processing / HDR conversion Free software While neither of the Theta cameras are particularly designed with shooting video in mind, there is a clear difference between them. The Theta Z1, even with the larger sensors, is unable to match the quality of its video with its photos. Limited to 4K, the resolution of the Z1 video is disappointing and there’s little in the way of stabilization or shooting modes. I wouldn’t recommend using this camera for any serious video work.

The Theta Z1 can shoot Raw+DNG. The DNG photos are saved as double circular fisheye photos. There are three ways the unstitched DNG photos can be stitched: (i) Lightroom and the Ricoh Stitcher plugin, the first of its kind in the 360 camera industry; (ii) PTGui version 11.3 or later, and (iii) the Theta Stitcher mobile workflow. These options are discussed below. You can try the options with the sample files above. Lightroom workflow in 3 Steps The addition of both removable batteries and a microSD card slot to the Theta X remove limits to how long it can be used for; an issue which plagues the Z1 with it’s internal only memory and integrated battery. To be fair the Z1 has recently been upgraded to have 51GB internal memory, enough for a lot of photos and videos. When exporting the Premiere project, make sure that it is in VR, and that audio is set to ambisonic: Still image, Video: Auto, outdoor, shade, cloudy, incandescent lamp 1, incandescent lamp 2, daylight color fluorescent lamp, natural white fluorescent lamp, white fluorescent lamp, light bulb color fluorescent lamp,Color temperature(2500K – 10000K) *3

The Theta X has 43GB of internal memory and up to 265GB microSD card slot which could last dozens of shoots before it gets full. Both cameras can shoot in an auto HDR mode which improves the appearance of your photos without any extra editing. The Theta Z1 can not only shoot in DNG Raw mode but Ricoh has created a special plug-in for Adobe Lightroom Classic called Ricoh Stitcher, which for the first time will enable users to edit photos in Lightroom and then stitch them on export, with adjustments for zenith, horizon, and stitching distance. See workflow below.

It is better not to change the aperture for HDRI photography with a regular single-lens reflex camera, but in the case of THETA there is almost no effect, so the aperture value is also changed to shorten the shooting speed as much as possible. As of now, no. It only works with Lightroom Classic CC. I’ve recommended to Ricoh to enable it to be used standalone but I don’t know if they will adopt my recommendation. Part 2 discusses dynamic range, low light performance, minimum stitching distance, and ISO invariance. I also discuss why those capabilities are important for virtual tours. The Z1 has a variable aperture, the first consumer 360 camera to have such a feature. It appears to be a true physically variable aperture, not just a digital ND filter because Ricoh states that the image will be sharper with the smaller apertures. The smaller apertures also enable longer exposures, up to 3 stops longer than the Theta V. The Z1 ( review here) has a distinct advantage thanks to its dual 1 inch sensors. The larger the sensor in a lens the more light it can take in and, generally, the better quality image can be produced. The Z1 is the only 360 camera out right now with such large sensors.Still image: (AUTO) 1/25000 sec. to 1/8 sec. (Shutter Priority) 1/25000 sec. to 1/8 sec. *3 (Manual):1/25000 sec. to 60 sec. *3 Video: (AUTO)1/25000 sec. to 1/30 sec. (Shutter Priority, Manual) 1/25000 sec. You really need to test Z1 camera in a field. It comes with all this crap that also present in their V model with recording GPS position with precision. After that, import the selected image, select and export, and development is complete. Since styles are applied from the export settings, style adjustment and development settings are not required for individual images. There is no information on how much color gamut the actual Z1 has as a sensor, and we have not verified it. Since it is HDRI of Rec2020 color space, it is necessary to match the color space read by CG software. It might be easier to use Nuke etc. to convert to ACEScg etc.
