About this deal

Consider learning how to influence and persuade your readers with basic psychological principles in this book. If you’re a business leader, you could tell a story about how you or your company overcame a big professional challenge (great leaders are comfortable displaying vulnerability). Character growth shouldn't be limited to the main character. The writer should explore how the interactions between all the main characters cause them to grow (this is a contrast with other books that suggest that the rest of the cast should remain steadfast to avoid stepping on the main character's journey of growth).

This is what storytellers do. They create moments of unexpected change that seize the attention of their protagonists and, by extension, their readers and viewers." pg 13, ebook I loved this book. It is easy to read and immensely interesting. It is well organized so that you can find segments you need to return to later. I am excited how this information and know-how can apply to all kinds of communication in our every day lives. If didn’t give these things up and write 1,000 words every , then I would never write a book (what’s at stake). We are born only with two fears, all the rest we learn. One of those fears we learn and petrifies most people is the fear to feel embarrassed. Several skills are common to good storytellers. One is the ability to pull the audience into the heart of the story within the first few sentences. It doesn’t matter if you’re a content marketer, copywriter, poet or novelist. Stories belong in your work. Before writing my story of how I learnt to write 1,000 words a day, I identified my target audience as other new writers who wanted to do the same and those who were curious about my journey.

This book is a non-fiction book that attempts to help improve an individual’s ability to tell a captivating story. It is broke into three parts: Plot & Structure : Techniques and Exercises for Crafting a Plot that Grips Readers from Start to Finishby James Scott Bell If you’re telling a non-fiction story, describe in a few sentences a problem that you have or one that you know your readers have. They also stir up emotions in the hearts of a target audience and they remember lessons from the story long after the end.

When I was a (marketing) manager, I had the reputation of always telling stories. Any time I wanted some sort of action taken, I would tell a story where similar circumstances led to the needed result. It’s just natural to tell stories people can relate to (I noticeably more than most, apparently). So with novels and films. It’s all about manipulating hallucinations for fun and profit. Knowing how the mind works makes modern fiction ever more gripping (when done right). Motivations, self-delusion and subconscious acts all figure prominently in Storr’s analyses. If your story is genuine and honest, you will impact your readers more than through cold logic and reason. Storytelling Guide ResourcesI want found several comments about the book that noted that it dealt with the Bible and telling of Bible stories. I feel sorry for individuals who are so closed minded that they can’t learn many of the key concepts of storytelling because the author decided use the Bible as a source for stories. I had a boss who told me that a smart man can learn from any fool (and I am not saying that John Walsh is a fool) but a fool can’t learn from the best teachers. I think there a lot of fools when it comes from learning principles from the Bible. Now I will get off of my soap box. Any embarrassing moment in your life, put in the context of a story, becomes a funny story to tell. The real problem is obviously the inability of vast numbers of story-listeners to discern how these modern bards of balderdash, hate and spite are being manipulated by the rhetorical technique, bad as it is, that they already employ.
