About this deal

Carrie R. Wheadon. "The Rose & the Dagger: The Wrath & the Dawn, Book 2". www.commonsensemedia.org. Common Sense Media Inc . Retrieved December 4, 2017. This satisfying sequel is mostly a star-crossed love story with a light sprinkling of flying carpet magic.

The rest of the following day, Shahrzad spent her time in her tent nursing herself from the hangover. That night, she sneaks out with her carpet and heads to the Fire Temple where she finds Musa Zaragoza. She tells him what is going on with Khalid and asks him if he would help her with her father. Musa takes her to a different man, Artan Temujin, who is better fit to help Shahrzad. Artan tells her that the book her father has was the one written by his ancestors, and it is full of old, dark blood magic. He agrees to help her so long as Shahrzad tries to practice her magic. They spend the next three nights practicing, to no avail. Shahrzad is not able to control the magic within her to repel Artan’s fireballs, and one happens to hit her square in the stomach. Artan transfers all of the burns to himself, leaving her with a scar. He tells her about his family, and why they’re horrible. Musa arrives and gives Shahrzad a pendant to give to Khalid for his sleeplessness. The following night, Irsa follows Shahrzad out and Shahrzad tells her that she will explain tomorrow, so Irsa sends her off, telling her to make promises that she can only keep, and then goes in search of Rahim to tell him a story. While reading the book i was constantly telling myself not to cry. Not to cry. Not to cry. NOT TO CRY.We are introduced to some secondary characters that I adore. Irsa, Shazi's younger sister, is only fourteen (going on fifteen) but she is tough and strong and totally underestimated. Rahim is a soldier and Tariq's best friend. I like Rahim and Irsa's budding romance. I don't like Tariq and never will. Same with Shazi's father. We don't see too much of Jalal, or Despina, or the Rajput, but we learn more about them on personal levels, and they all play a huge role in the book. I didn't love Jalal like I did in book one, but he has good reason for being the jerk he was in this book. Despina had been many things to Shahrzad once. She’d been a friend when Shahrzad had most needed it. A confidante where Shahrzad had had none. But it was clear everything Shahrzad had known about Despina had been cloaked in lies. For it was beyond evident she was even more things now. The secret daughter of Salim Ali el-Sharif. A princess of Parthia. A spy and a deceiver. It was because they were two parts of a whole. He did not belong to her. And she did not belong to him. It was never about belonging to someone. It was about belonging together.” The biggest reason of enjoying this book was that I loved the characters and the atmosphere of book one much that I was glad to revisit one more time, To see how can the epic started by the end of book one would ends. Some characters got good conclusion for their stories...some just got weaker or shallow or went totally missing. In a land on the brink of war, Shahrzad has been torn from the love of her husband Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan. She once believed him a monster, but his secrets revealed a man tormented by guilt and a powerful curse—one that might keep them apart forever. Reunited with her family, who have taken refuge with enemies of Khalid, and Tariq, her childhood sweetheart, she should be happy. But Tariq now commands forces set on destroying Khalid's empire. Shahrzad is almost a prisoner caught between loyalties to people she loves. But she refuses to be a pawn and devises a plan.

Write Review:

But even though, I liked this book very much, there was still something that I did not like about it and it was the love triangle. I hate love triangle so much but the love triangle in this book was tolerable for me but I still did not like it at all. In my opinion, this book would be so much better without the love triangle. But again, the love triangle was not really bad, it was rather tolerable and the girl only loved one love interest. this duology is its own magic carpet ride - full of magical lands, daring adventure, and romantic moments. just as obsessed with this the second time around. Jahandar has literally ruined everything. He launched a storm killing innocent lives and destroying a city. He kidnapped his daughter against her will for something he thought was best. HE ASSINATES (sort of) THE LOVE OF HIS DAUGHTERS LIFE.

Kinda hoping this series is just a duology and nothing longer... less painful waiting and whatnot ;) In his unconscious state, Jahandar realizes that Shahrzad has the same power as he does, except that she is more powerful than him. He thinks to himself that he didn’t mean for the destruction to occur-he just wanted a distraction. The Rose & the Dagger has the same evocative, beautiful writing as the first installment, but it is less about the romance. Don't worry, though, Shahrzad/Khalid shippers still have plenty to swoon over, but the relationship is more mature, less angsty, but no less emotional in this book. The time for flirtations is over - a curse must be broken and a kingdom must be saved. To make matters clear: if you loved or, anyway, truly enjoyed The Wrath and the Dawn, then you'll love this too. It is everything a devoted fan could ask of a series conclusion. When it comes to tattoos, roses are one of the most popular floral motifs and have been an enduring symbol of beauty, love, and passion for centuries. The meaning behind a rose tattoo can vary depending on the color of the rose and cultural context. For example, red roses are often associated with love and romance, while yellow roses can symbolize friendship or new beginnings. The symbolism of daggers in tattoos is complex and multifaceted, often reflecting the individual experiences and beliefs of the wearer. Meaning Behind Rose and Dagger Tattoos I said in my review of The Wrath & the Dawn that I'm just not much of a romantic person. I hate instalove, most love triangles, and generally prefer romance to come behind more dangerous and exciting things. That being said, there is something about this world, its curses and its magic, that completely melts my heart.
