About this deal

In The Wild is without question the broadest album The Interrupters have ever released, and that evolution is certainly necessary for a band that are growing in stature in the rate that they are, yet it retains the grounded relatability, effervescent drive and world class hooks and songwriting that has made them the ska-punk band of the last decade. Doubt us? Give the brilliant Raised By Wolves one listen and then try and remove that irresistible chorus from your brain. Trust us, it’s not going anywhere and neither are they. I looked for that feeling my entire life and I never found it, until this family,” she says, her voice catching. “When I met Kevin we became fast friends, and with the Bivonas I felt that I was surrounded by people that loved me. There was a lot of support. I felt like we were kindred spirits. I didn’t even have to say anything – I just felt understood. There was this really comfortable, safe feeling.” While these details are truly exciting to hear, Into The Wildhas a particular kind of resonance for Aimee. The relative ease of the proceedings had a profound effect on the vocalist, who felt empowered enough to embrace much darker, personal avenues in her lyrics. Listen, I would be dead without music, hands down, 100% in the ground long ago if it wasn’t for music,” says Amiee. “Music has been my refuge, my healing light. It’s healed me. It’s been my best friend. It’s comforted me. And it comforts me in writing, and it comforts me when someone connects with it. And all of a sudden, neither of us are alone. We have found kindred spirits, we found community, and music brings people together. And it just feels like music’s so powerful. And I feel so honored anytime anyone says, ‘I heard that song, that got me through a dark time. I feel less alone. Thank you.’ Yeah, it’s the greatest gift in the world to be able to do that when music’s done that for me so much.”

When you play live is it important to make those connections with the fans? We’ve seen you in the crowd, holding hands with people, and looking right in their eyes, and it feels like a huge celebration. Unifying and addictive – those are the descriptors that seem to follow The Interrupters from album to album. The SoCal band are apex exponents of second wave ska-punk, but on a deeply human level, they mean way more than that. Genre goes out the window; heart and personality comes steaming in. Their energetic, sauna-hot live shows have felt more like family gatherings than gigs, and while always unusually heartfelt, the themes in their songs have never been as honest or as raw as on this fourth album. The Interrupters Release Video For New Single 'Raised By Wolves' – Bring the Noise UK". Did the two of you sit down and talk about the lyrical approach and whether it was wise to be so open? The Interrupters are an American ska punk band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2011. The band comprises lead vocalist Aimee Interrupter, drummer Jesse Bivona, bassist Justin Bivona, and guitarist Kevin Bivona. They have released four studio albums. The latest, In the Wild, was released in 2022, along with the album's lead single, "Raised by Wolves". [1] History [ edit ] Formation and early years [ edit ]All that aside I do wonder if ‘ Wolves’ is a vague reference to Rancid. Their …And Out Come the Wolves album is one of the biggest punk albums of all time and given the relationship between The Interrupters and Rancid’s Tim Armstrong (who appears on this album) it feels like a subtle nod at the very least. Aimee: “They've taught us so much and seeing them on those big stadium tours with Green Day - how they can take 50,000 people and make it feel like a club show. Everyone's singing, it's an intimate experience, Billie Joe's connecting with everyone. When you watch that every night you're in awe.” Deciding not to flee but to face down this shadow, Aimee underwent two types of therapy – Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which uses magnets to ‘target’ parts of the brain, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an interactive technique that focuses on one segment of trauma at a time.

More importantly perhaps, Aimee finally had time to step away from the touring whirlwind that had kept her mind in motion for the past two years. Having that imposed pause also meant she had no real choice but to consider the distance travelled and, inevitably, its starting point – the childhood trauma that had mutated into a constant but publicly submerged depression. Us being this close-knit family, working and isolating in our own space is why the record’s called In The Wild,” says Kevin. “I almost felt like we were in the woods camping, and we only had each other to rely on. Once we started, it became our whole life and all-time fell away.” In The Wildmay not be the record The Interrupters intendedto make, but it’s the one they ultimately believe they were meantto make.Aimee: “We've gotten that a lot in our career and there’s no greater gift than to receive that message. But since we've released Jailbird, In The Mirror, Anything Was Better, the messages I'm receiving are overwhelmingly saying the music is helping them get through a really tough time and that our music has saved them. I can't really find the words to express what that means to me. Because music has saved my life, music has healed me, music has been my best friend and music is the reason I'm alive. So if I can pay that forward or if I could possibly be so blessed as to pass that gift to someone, that's a reason to wake up in the morning and a reason to keep doing what we're doing. It’s the most beautiful thing in the world.” Aimee, in the This Is My Family film which Kevin Kerskale shot in Tokyo, you talk about live music being escapism and letting you forget about your troubles for an hour. With these deeply personal songs, does it make it more of a gruelling or even traumatic experience? Chances are that fans will. The Interrupters have built up a strong following over the years, one that has been bolstered by the band’s accessibility. Even though they sing about adult matters, the group avoids adult language in their music and stage banter. “A lot of people tell us that we’re the only band that the whole family can agree on, from the parents through the kids,” says Aimee. She’s not wrong: go to any Interrupters show, and you’ll see all ages of fans, from the elderly to kids with their parents. “We like that many generations are connected to it,” she says. Woolsey, Brittany. "The Interrupters Learn to Fight the Good Fight From Bands Like Green Day and Rancid – OC Weekly". This record is the first time I wrote my story and told my truth and shared what I went through and continue to go through.”
