About this deal

OpenAI was founded in 2015 with the goal of developing “safe and beneficial artificial general intelligence [AGI] for the benefit of humanity”. AGI refers to an AI that can perform a variety of tasks at, or above, a human level of intelligence. Eleven Gardai vehicles were either destroyed through arson or very extensively damaged during “huge destruction by a riotous mob”. But hang on a moment. Many parents, educators and psychologists across the country responded to Williamson’s speech with a ‘huh?’ What is this evidence he’s talking about? How does it square with the research showing how important play and motivation is for learning? Where did he get that confidence about the same thing working for everyone, when any teacher knows that each child is different and that teaching a class of children rarely results in them all learning the same thing? How does it fit with our own experience as adults – where sitting facing the expert for hours every day isn’t how most of us choose to learn? The collection feels like a hodgepodge of thoughts without a clear thread to say 'this is poetry' or 'this is self-help'. I suppose this is what they call genre-bending, but in all honesty, it gave me a bit of a headache. It discussed a range of topics from everyday life and the struggles of navigating it, to grief. My favourite essay was the one of self-care and self love. It was a good reinforcement that self-care doesn't have to mean putting on a facemask and painting your toes. Instead, it is about what makes you feel closer and truer to yourself.

The general theme of the book is the idea of looking within to find your truth rather than looking outside of yourself and becoming what others tell you to be. Topics and ideas covered include enjoying the journey rather than focusing on the outcome, finding your own joy, prioritising time for the important things, belonging, coping with depression, and finding stillness so you can hear your soul’s message. She also writes about death and dealing with grief in an incredibly deep and sensitive way and I would recommend reading this if you are going through grief yourself. In this gratifying exploration of the self, Daley-Ward excels at describing the indescribable…this work defies genre and features a beautiful blend of lyrical prose and bold poetry…. This is a tender, hopeful meditation.” – Publishers WeeklyYou are as brilliant as the best thing in nature and could only be here because you belong here, wild and unpredictable as everything else. If you and I try to do all the things we are told to do to be the very best that we can be, then we will never rest. Naomi Fisher is a clinical psychologist and author of Changing Our Minds: How Children Can Take Control of their Learning, published by Robinson. Hodgson said:] ‘Look, there are certain aspects of your game that you need to improve on.’ He obviously encouraged me to work on it, especially on the intensity - to improve on the pace. That’s what he noticed in my game and I managed to work on that and that’s why I managed to play a couple of games.”

Before you save a single thing, you must first save yourself. It is a revolutionary act, and every revolution must begin in the heart." Given that he leads the company behind ChatGPT – a chatbot that has transformed the debate around AI – this was a tantalising comment. And a major event in AI did occur the next day – Altman was fired. This change in the law is undoubtedly a step in the right direction, but we need to be having these discussions in the UK, too. In the meantime, we are not completely powerless. If you want to stop the adverts, there are things you can do, Laux tells me. Turning off personalised ads in your settings, or hiding ads in your feed if you don’t want to see them again, are some options. If we want to thrive, the act of accessing joy right here, right now, is one of the first muscles to strengthen." for not only giving advices from what feels like a distant place, but for being vulnerable and sharing your own fears, so each of us feels less lonely. Thank you for being here with us. To be useful, The How must be about finding our way inside, to what truly resonates. It cannot be more invested in anything that happens on the outside. To be maintainable rather than temporary, The How must be about seeing and feeling more of what we are. To be realistic, The How must be about removing the filters. Somewhere, somehow, we have grown afraid. Again. But nothing is lost. We'll return (we have done this before, of course). To be human is to remember and forget, and repeat." I feel like I should say it’s not a bad book, it’s always great to have something to guide your thinking in this exploratory way and I’m sure there are many who will find the contents really helpful; I personally found it quite a relaxing January, bedtime read.
