About this deal

She’s beautiful. I’ve tried not to notice, but I’ve eyes in my head, after all. When that spirit flashes, she’s more beautiful than any I’ve known." The Becoming is the second book in The Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy. While I enjoyed The Awakening ( my review), I loved this sequel. I love the writing and the characters! Even though I didn’t fully understanding the magics, it’s okay because Breen doesn’t understand either. Also, I’m not rating for the romance aspect (I’m not feeling the chemistry); I’m rating for how awesome the people in the book are. The last fantasy trilogy I read by Roberts, Chronicles of the One (2017-2019), I found to be a fantastic fantasy story full of the same plethora of creatures but with a good struggle and story. It was a definite elevation for me in her stories of this genre. So, my expectation was for that to continue. La trama de este libro no me ha gustado más que la del anterior, creo que es una trilogía y este segundo libro puede verse como uno "puente" hacia el final: pasan cosas pero no muy significativas. Shara es la que más juego da a la historia, y me hubiera gustado que tuviera más motivos detrás.Her light always triumphed over the dark. I know I won't get more in this world, but the hopefulness of all that's to come for her was so evident that I don't know if I need it. Want is another story.

This book completes the quest for the death of Odran and the freedom of the Fey. An epic battle scene and the inner strength Breen finds to fulfill her promise to the Fey and her heritage come late in the book, but that's fine. This story is really about love. Love of family, of culture, of heritage, of people. Nora Roberts is an auto-buy for me, but in all honesty, I think this could have been an epic duology. However, I enjoyed the overall trilogy and have no regrets. I look forward to her next. So Breen tells her sweet pie, supportive, BFF Marco what she discovered and offers him to go to a journey with her to find her father and learn about her ancestors in Ireland. Marco the bestie, so much likable friend accepts her offer. And while we are talking about connection.....it's almost non-existent between Breen and Keegan. Disappointing.

So much special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for sharing this incredible Arc with me in exchange my honest review. I thought the writing was hard to read at many points. I’m not sure if she was writing in a sense that she thought they would speak in, but it resulted in difficult sentences and overuse of commas.

The inclusion of LGBT and non-binary characters in romance becomes more and more normal, as it should, and I couldn't be happier about it. Marco wasn't just Breen's best friend by name, he was amazing, a constant in her life. And Sally was a delight! I was expecting action and adventure, considering how the second book ended. The big bad had yet to be defeated, and since he is a god, the final battle should have been epic and long – full of successes and failures. But I felt that it was pretty short and easy when it finally came. While I thoroughly enjoyed and wrestled with my thoughts on The Awakening, the depth of this one was so much more, and I have wanted more of Talamh. I also love the narration on this one; that helps with my own butchered pronunciation attempts at all of the names of characters and locations, and my brain's inability to find the Gaelic pronunciation of certain letter combinations, hahaha. This whole book really just felt like a race to the finish line, without any pit stops along the way. Other, minor complaints: protagonist starts a blog. It immediately gets like 100 views and 25 comments. Laughable. It’s 2020. Blogs are barely a thing anymore.Hay dos escenas +18, no están completamente descritas, no son tan explícitas pero sí que hubo una que me sorprendió (y horrorizó un poquito). Unfortunately it wasn't. The audiobook narration was great, just as in the first book. I enjoyed the accents and the narrator had a variety of voices for the different characters which made it easier to keep everyone straight. Keegan was a harder character for me to like. He's an honorable man who has this fierce need to protect everyone, but that need got in his way of his compassion towards Breen in this book. It will be interesting to see how he changes in the next book now that he sees what he's asked of her. L]et’s get lost in Talamh, where we can forget about our own failings and live in a fantasy world filled with beautiful rolling hills, waterfalls, deep green forests, dragons, fairies --- and horrific danger." This book so perfectly summed up the rest. Marco, the absolute best friend anyone could ever had. Their friendship won out so many things for me. When he asked Breen, "Who knows you like I know you?" there was no other answer but, "Nobody in any world anywhere." I love that the respect on friendship was such a large part of this series.
