About this deal

Since I’ve never had this before, I have no sense of comparison, but I do believe I can let go of the peanut butter now as this will fill that time to time craving I get for it.

Patience is key: depending on your particular food processor/blender, this process can take as little as 1-2 minutes, up to 20 (or more!). Just remember to give your machine breaks so it doesn’t overheat, and scrape down the sides. As a dietitian one of my favorite recommendations to clients are Perfect Bars. I love that they have a whopping 15 grams of protein, some fiber (4 grams) and tons of healthy fats. All that is to say… they’re actually filling! Maple syrup is the sweetener of choice. The entire recipe calls for just ¼ cup. You can use any liquid sweetener that you prefer. I love maple syrup, but if you have honey or agave syrup on hand, those work too! This small but mighty seed is full to the brim with nutrients. A healthy dose of magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, iron, folate as well as essential fats and Vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin E. They also contain 2g protein per tablespoon and ZERO cholesterol. Sunflower butter contains more minerals than most nut butters! There are several varieties of nut butter available, each one made from different nuts and with slightly different flavours.

A google search for The Best Sunbutter Recipe landed me here, so from the peak of my imaginary mountain top I am hereby proclaiming Victory over what has previously been a blight on my reign as Kitchen Queen here in my realm…homemade Sunflower Seed Butter. Oh how I love myself a protein bar. Especially if you’re busy (who isn’t?) and on the go (who isn’t?), a protein bar is a great option to have on hand. However, when you have nut allergies it can be hard to find an allergen free option that 1. Tastes good, 2. Isn’t loaded with added sugar. This recipe is flourless, grain free, gluten free, dairy free, nut free, oil free, and butter free.

Patience is key: Depending on your particular food processor/blender, this process can take as little as 1-2 minutes, up to 20 (or more!). Just remember to give your machine breaks so it doesn’t overheat, and scrape down the sides.

Almond butter

Any of these nut butters can make a superb addition to your overnight oats. Overnight oats makes for a great fuss free breakfast as it’s prepared the night before and left to soak, ready for you to eat hot or cold in the morning.
