About this deal

Design Whilst it’s not a looker – its plain white gloss exterior feels basic and practical rather than stylish – the Challenge 2kW Convector Heater is functional. Its relatively compact size and light weight mean it's easy to place in a smaller room, and a pair of carry handles on the top means it's easy to move around the house. Second, think about the climate in your home. If you live in an area with very cold winters, you'll need a more powerful heater to keep your home warm. Conversely, if you have a milder climate, you may be able to get away with a smaller, less expensive model. They are portable. If you need to move your heater from one room to another, you can simply unplug it and take it with you. The next step in the price analysis was to look at the average price you would typically expect to pay for Heating and cooling and as Currys PC World was selected for this review we’ve used them for gathering our information on the average price of Heating and cooling.

They tend to be cheap to run, but some can be really slow to heat up. Most oil-filled heaters are also fairly heavy and cumbersome, so look out for models that come with wheels. The other big plus with this one is that it works with the same HomeWizard Climate app as Princess’s air purifiers, dehumidifiers and fans. The Smart features are basic – you can only control the thermostat and set a timer for your heating to turn on – but still handy if you don’t want to get up and make your own adjustments. We also like the fact that you can stand the panel up on the included feet or mount it to a wall.Use the controls that are built into heaters. Your heater might go up to 2kW or 3kW (more on this below), but that doesn’t mean you always need it at that level of heat output. Instead of blasting heat out on max all the time, toggle it to a low setting, such as 1kW or 1.5kW, then crank it up when you need to. The 500 watt power uses less energy than conventional heaters and can help save on your heating bill by only heating the area required at a time rather than the whole house. Use the LED display settings to set the speed, your desired temperature and the sleep timer. This micro heater has a temperature setting between 15 and 30°C, while the sleep timer can be set between 1 and 12 hours.

Although the comparison might make your electric heater look cheaper to run, bear in mind that it will only be heating a much smaller area, whereas your central heating will be aiming to heat your whole home. They are easy to install. You can simply plug them into a standard electrical outlet and they will be ready to use. No professional installation is required. COOL TO THE TOUCH AT ONLY 90 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH WALL-SENS SAFETY SENSOR TO CUT POWER IF THE HEATER IS REMOVED FROM THE WALL.Can be left running 24/7 for peace of mind to protect children, the elderly and pets. Doesn’t blow dust or allergens around a room, creating a cleaner, healthier environment for allergy sufferers and those with respiratory problems. Doesn’t dry out the air thus reducing winter nose bleeds and dry eye syndrome. However, our tests showed the maths isn't often exact. Most of the electric heaters we tested are listed 2kW but they often have moments of using slightly more power to get going, and after monitoring how much energy they used from being used on full blast for an hour, the costs varied from 39p to 63p.

To find the best electric heater for your needs, it's important to consider how you will be using it. It depends on what your heating needs are, the type of electric heater you’re using, and what your main heating is. Performance For its size, the EH0569SSTK fan is a hard worker. Even on its lowest setting it supplies a good boost of heat instantly. However, that heat has a limited reach and took a while to diffuse around the whole room when tested. The Dreo and Duux Threesixty were both far better at distributing heat evenly around the room. Close up, the Beldray is cosy, but it would probably be a costly way to heat a medium-to-large room from cold. Convection (or convector) heaters: These designs channel air currents through the body of the heater and out into the room. They may take longer to warm the space, but they’re not as noisy and often provide a more even heat around the room. Electric heaters are very efficient because they turn all the electricity they use into heat. But this doesn’t mean they are cheap to run.We assess how easily each electric heater can be set up and how easily understandable the controls and settings are. We used any handles to lift the heater and move it around. While some heaters can be used straight out of the box, others have complicated program and timer settings. So, what exactly makes this heater special compared to other heaters on the market? First, EcoWarm Portable Heater is great because it uses ceramic convection technology. And, that’s just a fancy way of saying it warms up FAST! You know when you increase your thermostat, those changes often don’t hit for an hour or so. And, most space heaters take about half an hour to fully warm up. Thankfully, that’s not the case with Eco Warm Heater! Because, this uses technology to keep you warm in just seconds. Heaters have an output measured in watts (W) or kilowatts (kW) and generally you get out in terms of heat what you put in in terms of energy. In a smaller room, or one requiring fill-in heat on top of central heating, you may be happy with something as low as 600W, but larger or colder rooms may need a 1.2kW to 3kW model. How much should I spend? Convector heaters: A convector heater looks more like a traditional radiator. They can still be moved around your home but are bulkier, and, in many cases, heavier than most fan heaters.

Performance Besides good looks, the biggest plus point of this convector heater is the size of space it can comfortably heat – up to 20sq m – and that it has an IP24 rating meaning that you can use it in damp spaces. The fact you can also choose to wall-mount it via the included wall kit is another bonus. It also comes with 'open window detection' functionality (meaning it turns off if a sudden drop of 5°C in temperature within 10 minutes is detected, to save on wasted energy), timer, and night mode, meaning you can leave it on a low heat to keep a bedroom toasty whilst the display dims so it doesn't keep you awake. On the downside, this type can be quite noisy and they don't have some of the more advanced features you can get with convector heaters. Use it in conjunction with central heating if you can find the right mix. It can be wise to keep your home heated at a baseline level and use an electric heater to provide warmth during the coldest hours and only in the room you're in. Halogen heaters tend to be the cheapest radiant heaters as they have a low power rating (but also produce less heat), while oil-filled radiators are often the cheapest convector heater because there is a thermostat to control the temperature.
