About this deal

The camera app on the 13T Pro is more or less the same as on other Xiaomis, but with a twist - the accent color here is red, presumably in honor of the Leica collaboration. These photos are not as detailed as the ones coming from the main camera, because the sensor is much smaller. In fact, the grass and other intricate details often outresolved the sensor resulting in an over-sharpened mess.

The rear camera experience on the S22 Ultra also impresses, in fact, arguably this phone also has the most versatile rear camera setup of any handset at the time of writing, so whatever type of photographer you are, it’s a top choice. The default portraits are taken with the telephoto camera and are incredibly nice. The subject is detailed, well-exposed, and free of noise, with natural rendition and likable colors. The bokeh is lovely. The main camera can be forced to capture full-sized 50MP stills as well. These tend to have a bit more detail than their regular counterparts, with mostly the same overall quality in other aspects. AI Avatar: Create fun and unique AI digital avatars with 30+ avatar styles for your profile or social media One-stop shooting and editing with this popular selfie camera app will be way more convenient and can make your shooting experience interesting. Having this selfie camera means you can enjoy a beauty camera, photo editor, photo collage maker at the same time.

And of course you could always use the other lenses for selfies – albeit slightly awkwardly – and these really excel. The 50MP main sensor coupled with Google’s excellent software and algorithms can capture some of the best images you’ll find from a phone, and the 12MP ultra-wide and 48MP telephoto (with 4x optical zoom) impress too. Optical stabilization is available on the primary and zoom cameras, while always-on electronic stabilization is present across all shooters. You cannot turn the EIS off. And here are some samples of the 50mm Swirly Bokeh and the 90mm Soft Focus. The Swirly Bokeh shoots with the telephoto camera and the quality is a match to the standard portraits, but it introduces vignetting and changes the bokeh effect, the blurred highlights shape specifically. Overall, we can't really find any flaws with Samsung's new 12MP selfie. Looking at the new S23+ selfies side by side with ones from the S22 is honestly a toss-up. We tend to like the detail better on the S23+, whereas skin tones seem a bit more true-to-life on the S22 ones. In any case, the difference is minimal. While we do wish at least the basic stabilization worked at full 4K resolution, it does its job pretty well beyond that. We found little extra utility for the SuperSteady mode.

The 90mm soft focus mode is not for everyone, that is for sure. It zooms over the telephoto camera, and everything is soft, as promised. All selfies, no matter the FoV, have great image quality. The subject(s) is always well-exposed with very natural rendition and well balanced sharpness. The resolved detail is high, impressive even at 18mm and 22m, there is no noise, and the colors are well rendered. The 50MP sensor on the primary camera is potent enough to offer high-quality zoom. The photos we took at 2x zoom are almost as good as the native mode, with no major loss of detail. Huawei is indeed using some advanced computational photography to offset the digital zoom here and it works great. Here you can see the difference in the depth of field when shooting at the different aperture settings.

Going for 10x zoom in low-light is really not recommended, but if you do insist the Mate 50 Pro will use the telephoto camera and actually produce a surprisingly usable image. Colors are alright and while detail isn't great it's adequate, which is far more than we would have expected. The night mode is only available for the main camera. You can't use it on the ultrawide or selfie cam at all, which is a real shame.

video gets recorded in a standard AVC video stream at a bit over 50 Mbps with stereo 48kHz AAC audio inside an MP4 container. Nothing out of the ordinary. Quality is excellent, with plenty of detail and true-to-life colors.

Selfie Cameras | Final Words

The main camera on the Red Magic 8 Pro captures 12.5MP stills by default. These are very competent in daylight with plenty of fine detail and nice, true-to-life colors. The 12MP main camera stills are great for a mid-range device. They are not terribly sharp when you inspect them from up close, but they still have good contrast and reasonable dynamic range. Samsung Galaxy A34 against the Samsung Galaxy A54 and the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G in our Photo compare tool The characteristic Samsung processing is present here. It includes saturated colors with plenty of "pop". In fact, saturation is pretty high all around in these shots. But if these over-saturated images are not your cup of tea, turning off the Scene Optimizer and the Auto HDR might help. We live in a world where selfie is in the dictionary and as such no self-respecting smartphone manufacturer can afford to ignore people’s desire to take pictures of themselves. It’s with that in mind that we’ve curated this list of the best smartphone cameras for selfies.

The Red Magic 8 Pro has excellent EIS on its main camera that works at 4K resolution. It does a great job smoothing out bumps and shakes and only leaves behind occasional slight focus hunting, which is easy to live with. Xiaomi has definitely upped its game and the partnership with Leica has made its high-end phones known for their excellent photo and video quality. Plus, having Leica's Vibrant and Authentic modes means you will be getting the best from two universes - Samsung-like punchy rendition and Apple-like realistic one. All cameras support Night Mode, including Auto Night Mode, which works the same way as on iPhones and Xiaomi devices. As we mentioned, the 50MP main camera on the Galaxy S23+ uses a Tetracell (or Quad-Bayer) sensor. Basic math hence dictates that by default, it should produce 12.5MP stills. Instead, the S23+ captures 12MP photos. That's sort of the "unified" resolution that all of the rear cameras produce. The macro camera uses a 5MP GalaxyCore GC5035 sensor with f/2.4 aperture and focus fixed at about 4cm.

Previously added Teleprompter Video mode is here to stay. You can paste your video script here and read it easily while you capture your video. And now you can also enabled or disables the electronic stabilization, but only for the Pro Video and Timelapse Modes (this widens the field of view). Instead, you can just shoot from as close as 3cm away with the ultrawide camera and you will get some exemplary close-ups with detailed centers, sharp, and well-developed intricate objects. The contrast remains high, the dynamic is great, and the color rendition is accurate and lively. We also want to praise these photos for the great handling of noise. Apple has been offering two Field-of-View modes on the selfie camera for a few generations already - the slightly zoomed-in 7MP crop, which is equivalent to a 30mm field of view, and the full 12MP mode, which has a 23mm equivalent FoV.
