After then befriending and being joined by Tora and his Artificial Blade Poppi, and rescuing Nia and Dromarch as part of a trap set up by Mor Ardain Special Inquisitor Morag Ladair and her Blade Brighid, Rex and Pyra's journey soon leads them to meet with Vandham and his Blade Roc, but when Pyra leaves during the night to surrender to Torna as she meets with Malos and Ahkos, Rex and the others follow and come to her aid, but due to being unable to fight thanks to Ahkos and his Blade Obrona being able to manipulate the Ether flow of the area, Vandham is soon forced to effectively commit suicide to try and buy time for Rex and the others to escape. Not too long after the Aegis' release, professional players such as MkLeo, Sparg0 and Shuton have demonstrated very strong results with Pyra, particularly when used in tandem with Mythra, and her representation and results have further expanded since then. Most players believe the Aegis is top tier or even among the best characters in the game, alongside the commonly accepted Steve and Joker.

Pyra is the stronger Blade of the duo, dealing vastly superior damage than Mythra, but at the cost of slower movement. I am looking for opportunities to crew on and be a general helping hand on cruiser yachts throughout the season and learn as much as I can in the process. Succeeding Min Min, Pyra and Mythra are the second and third characters that were spirits in the base game.

Up special: Prominence Revolt. Pyra jumps and performs a slash with the Aegis Sword ablaze and is followed by a downward stab that creates a pillar of fire. This is Pyra's main recovery move, but if performed too far from a platform, it can lead to a self destruct. Since the Aegis' release, they have received very positive reception from competitive players. This is largely owed to Mythra's outstanding mobility and frame data, overall one of the best in the game, alongside her unique Foresight ability, though this is at the cost of her damage output being largely unimpressive. On the other hand, Pyra brings to the table overwhelming power and range, while losing out on mobility and, to an extent, frame data. These polarized attributes overall complement each other very well and leave Pyra and Mythra with few collective weaknesses, most notably a poor recovery with mediocre distance and vulnerability to edgeguarding. As a result, they have seen strong usage since their debut, with Cosmos, MkLeo, Sparg0, and Shuton using them to place highly at multiple major events. This strong reception led many players to consider them as one of the best characters in the game, and they currently sit at 2nd on the current tier list, ranking in the S+ tier alongside Steve and Joker. Pyra and Mythra have their own separate announcer calls used on the character selection screen and their victory poses.

In Chapter 10, when Rex is tested by the Architect through a vision, Pyra requests the Architect to stop it after seeing Rex suffer throughout what he experienced. It is revealed that Pneuma was one of the three cores in the Trinity Processor which was used to maintain the Conduit and later used by the Architect to collect data from the Core Crystals of Blades in his attempt to restore humanity, making Pyra and Mythra both Blades awakened from Pneuma's Core Crystal. After Pneuma transfers her remaining life force to Rex’s Core Crystal, the Aegis’ Core Crystal falls off of his chest, allowing him to reawaken Pyra and Mythra, who are now in separate bodies. As the Aegis, Pyra, Mythra, and Pneuma are the only Blades to have a green Core Crystal and ether lines during combat. All other Blades have blue with the exception of Malos, who is the only Blade with a purple Core Crystal. Later on, Brighid talks to Pyra in secret about how Blades should be honest with their Drivers, seemingly because she has an idea of what Pyra and Mythra's true intentions in reaching Elysium may be. Pyra is usually seen to be very doubtful of her worth and considers herself to be a burden and a danger to others. Due to this, she originally wants to go to Elysium alongside Mythra to ask the Architect for their death, which they could normally not obtain due to their condition as Blades.

The party fight and kill Malos, and Pneuma uses Aion to save Alrest from the debris of the World Tree as it collapses, letting her companions escape and accepting her death from the resulting explosion. Left: Tosses the Aegis Sword in the air while twirling and catches it while posing, saying "We did our best!" ( 頑張りました, I did my best.). Rex will jump in next to her and hold his fist up, saying "Nice one, Pyra!" ( やったね、ホムラ！, Great job, Pyra!). In team battles, Rex does not appear if the team has three or more characters.
