About this deal

Quentin Tarantino chose Jun Kunimura to be Boss Tanaka after seeing him scream in Ichi the Killer (2001). In anime format, the film follows O-Ren's development from the age of nine, when she witnessed the murder of her parents. Her father, an American military officer, had tried to fight off several yakuza henchman, but was killed. The yakuza leader, a sleazy old man, Matsumoto, also brutally murders O-Ren's Japanese mother. The last of Matsumoto's men lights a fire in the room, letting the house burn to the ground. O-Ren survives and avenges the murders at age 11 in blood-spouting style, taking advantage of Matsumoto's pedophilia. She grows up to be a world-class assassin. Michael Madsen's character is named "Budd" as a tribute to Budd Boetticher, one of Quentin Tarantino's favorite directors. Tarantino conceived Kill Bill as an homage to the 1973 film Lady Snowblood, grindhouse cinema, martial arts films, samurai cinema, blaxploitation and spaghetti Westerns. It features an anime sequence by Production I.G. Volume 1 is the first of two Kill Bill films made in a single production. They were planned as a single release, which Tarantino split into two films to avoid having to cut scenes. Volume 2 was released six months later. The "House of Blue Leaves" fight is not only in full color, but features about 9 new shots missing from the US print which include:

The music video made for ‘Telephone’ seems to share its general aesthetic with that of a classic Quentin Tarantino movie. In 2010, Gaga discussed the connections between Tarantino and the ‘Telephone’ production. “There certainly is a Tarantino-inspired quality in the video,” she said. “I mostly love the way he uses different forms to create something new.” Pai Mei punching through a wooden plank, leaving a round hole as opposed to "regular" wood splinters, may be a reference to this ability, attributed to several martial arts masters - among them Masusatsu Oyama (founder of the Kyokushin school of karate) who, in martial arts folklore, is said to have punched such a hole in an oak door to grab the wrist of a burglar trying to enter his house Was the first Oscar DVD to arrive in Academy mailboxes in 2004. It ironically received no Academy Award nominations. The reason that The Bride no longer has the "Pussy Wagon" in Vol. 2 is because in the original script that included the character of Yuki Yubari, Go-Go's sister, Yuki had destroyed it soon after the killing of Vernita Green. Unlike every other Quentin Tarantino film (including Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)), Vol. 2 doesn't end with "written and directed by". Instead, Tarantino shows his own credit at the end of the main credits, but before the crew credits for the various locations at which Kill Bill was filmed.

A month later we see Hanzo examining the new sword, which he believes is his finest work. He hands it to her in a small and solemn ceremony where he admits he broke his personal pact not to make any more swords but has done so because he supports the Bride's mission. Quentin Tarantino originally intended to cast a Japanese actress to play O-Ren Ishii, but before casting began he saw Lucy Liu's work in Shanghai Noon (2000) and immediately changed O-Ren into a Chinese-Japanese American so that Liu could play the part. Pai Mei, as kung fu film aficionados know is based on a historical character in Chinese folklore named Bak Mei aka "White-eyebrow Taoist". He was later featured as a villain in Shaw Brothers Studios kung fu films including Executioners From Shaolin and Fists of The White Lotus, which is where Gordon Liu plays a hero facing off against Pai Mei.
