About this deal

Another factor that determines the screen quality is the SDR. The SDR peak brightness of the Samsung G5 is pretty decent. Brightness is remarkably constant throughout various content, with the exception of the 2 percent window that is noticeably darker due to frame dimming. It is best suited for a dark to moderately lit room because it isn’t bright enough to overcome strong glare. Additionally, the Samsung G7 offers excellent SDR peak brightness.

Based on our analysis, the Samsung 27" Odyssey G7 monitor has a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, which we found was excellent for gaming. HDR is supposedly not bright enough for some people? I didn't have that issue but most of my games are not HDR, so this was a non-issue for me. The Samsung G7 Odyssey monitor is an even better and more fantastic option for gaming because of its super-fast 240Hz refresh rate. Turn your g-sync on, read the blurbusters article if necessary on it. If you are gonna spend the money on a nice monitor, use it to the full extent.

As curvy as it gets

In contrast, the Samsung G7 32 inch monitor is of excellent make. It’s made of sturdy, high-quality plastic. this allows for very high fps (assuming your set up and gpu keeps up), and gaming for me was buttery smooth.

Two months in, I love this monitor and I have no regrets whatsoever. Sorry if the review is all over the place, hopefully still helpful to some in deciding their next upgrade. There is a good argument that anything over 144Hz is excessive given how little different you'll see in the jump between 144-240Hz, but with the latest graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD powering gaming PCs you can expect many low-demand titles easily smashing past 144fps. Whether you'd actually notice the difference is an open question, but you'll have the peace of mind knowing that if you're hitting up to 240fps in your favorite game then your monitor is keeping up. In this menu, you can also adjust headphone volume, set a power-off timer and control the lighting effects. You can also set the USB ports to remain active when the power’s off to charge devices. Recommended Calibration Settings Response time is another important consideration when choosing a monitor, especially for fast-paced activities such as gaming, sports, and action movies. Ghosting, the blurring or trailing of fast-moving objects on the screen, can be distracting and negatively impact the viewing experience. In our years of gaming, we have tried and tested various monitors and encountered the annoyance of ghosting, which can negatively impact the overall viewing experience.

With adaptive sync and VRR control on, the pixel response time is fantastic across the entire refresh rate range, and there are no visible sudden shifts in gamma, or "screen flashing" when the framerate changes. To those extremely sensitive to judder, it's been stated that this makes VRR "not as smooth feeling" in a way that nobody can seemingly articulate. I _believe_ what is happening here is that a technique is being used to internally double or triple the refresh rate of the input to the highest possible value while staying under 240hz. This can result in a delay if a new frame is ready to be displayed before the doubled or tripled image is finished being scanned out to the panel. In theory, this can have a maximum judder penalty of 4.166~ms (1 second divided by the refresh rate, 240hz), but in practice, we can assume it's going to be an average of half of that, 2.083~, since there's no way to predict if the new frame is ready near the beginning or end of the scanout for the doubled/tripled refresh. I would say that the judder that VRR control can cause is real, but as someone that isn't particularly sensitive to it, it doesn't bother me. It often melts away and becomes imperceptible amongst other performance issues a game may have that result in engine halts that are longer than the average potential judder period with VRR control on. Additionally, it is devoid of the RGB illumination found on the G7. It has a fairly aggressive curve similar to the G7, which may annoy certain people. – Durability

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is best for gaming purposes. It supports FreeSync and NVIDIA’s G-SYNC and has a native refresh rate of 240 Hz. The response time is exceptional at 60Hz and, along with its maximum refresh rate, results in very little blur. I know no one personally with any major issues, so you may also consider this more as a pro than a con.
