It is inevitable – with a smaller body comes a smaller battery, and of course a trade-off in battery life. Best Cases For Motorola Edge 30 Neo&summary=Motorola Edge 30 Neo has been officially released on Sept. 8, 2022. The device comes with splash and dust resistance and supports Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). The device is powered by Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 695 5G Octa-core processor and GPU is Adreno 619. The smartphone features a dual camera that consists of 64 MP […]" class="popup"> This is no great surprise given the Fusion has a flagship-tier chipset, while the Neo has a much less impressive mid-tier one. Spec-wise the display is otherwise pretty normal. It’s a 1080 x 2400 pixel 120Hz panel with two color modes, Natural and Saturated. They perform just as their names suggest.Capture crystal-clear high-res photos in any light, while eliminating any blur from unwanted camera movement and give your photography an edge. With a 64 MP camera, your photos are consistently clear and bright with razor-sharp details, even when taken in low light. High-resolution selfies with Quad Pixel technology combine four pixels into one for better low-light sensitivity. While there are a couple of key areas in which the Neo really succeeds, a nice display and decent battery life aren’t quite enough to keep Moto’s head above water in this crowded section of the market.

The Edge 30 Neo steps down from three rear cameras to two, but steps up the specs. The first is a 64 MP main lens which takes advantage of larger 1.4 µm pixels – which in theory should improve low-light performance and reduce noise – as well as Optical Image Stabilisation to deliver sharper images. The second is a 13MP ultrawide lens with slightly smaller 1.12 µm pixels. The handset forgoes the 2 MP rear depth camera. While general performance is good, we couldn’t help but notice app loads tend to be slightly slower than in the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, the phone we switched from.

An unbalanced offering

This wouldn’t matter so much if we were just making a comparison between the Neo and the Fusion, but you can get Fusion-like results from phones such as the OnePlus Nord 2T and the Pixel 6a. Just within the Motorola Edge range you’ve got five models: the Edge 30 and Edge 30 Pro, now joined by the Edge 30 Fusion, Edge 30 Ultra and this Edge 30 Neo, which is the lightweight of the bunch in terms of price and features. Motorola is really expecting a lot of people when it comes to determining the best phone for their needs, considering rivals like Google’s Pixel range offer a fairly simple choice between Lite, Standard and Pro. While direct light yields decent results, step into the darkness and it’s a different story. The colour representation and detail drops substantially, and while the final image isn’t particularly bad, it’s not the best you can get for this price. If the Edge 30 Neo has seen investment in its screen and general design, an area of clear sacrifice has been its performance.
