About this deal

His name may be a reference to Anárion, brother of Isildur and King of Gondor from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings universe. to wound rolls with melee weapons – there are hardly any negative modifiers on wound rolls, so its mostly pure profit, but its also a lot harder to buff wound. Morathi, who always valued her beautfy, found herself changed after escaping from Slaanesh's belly during the Age of Myth. Her true form is gigantic, her lower body that of a massive winged serpent, twisted by shadow magic and the depredations of Slaanesh, whilst her upper body retains her famous aelf humanoid beauty. [2] The runes on her serpentine underbelly represent destruction, vengeance, serpent, shadow and blood. [6]

Word of Aenarion's victory swiftly spread across Ulthuan. All Elvenkind took heart at his actions, and rallied to him even as the Daemons reeled from the defeat. Caledor Dragontamer, the greatest wizard of the era, swore fealty to Aenarion, and together they trained the Elves in the art of battle. While Aenarion bade the priests of Vaul forge mighty weapons of tempered ithilmar and steel, Caledor undertook the tutelage of his fellow mages, teaching them great sorceries to banish and destroy. Thus changed the Elves' fortunes. [1a] She became the second wife of Aenarion after he rescued her from a Slaaneshi warband in the days of the first Chaos invasion before The Sundering. [2a] [3c]In the fires of the Burning Mountain she forged the lance Heartrender in 2304 IC. [3b] Storm of Chaos

Hagbutcher: "Her Dark Magic, Daemonic pacts, and evil ways have counted for naught in the face of superior arms". Her first experience of the new world was hurtling downwards to crash into the Umbralic Sea, surviving by her instinctual use of powerful magic’s to shield herself. Eventually she reached the shores of Hellezar and wondered through the strange shadowy land, slowly regaining her memories and sense of self. [5a] Morathi had been high priestess for the Aelven gods of old, served Slaanesh, conspired to put Malerion on his dark throne and only survived the transition from the World-That-Was to the Mortal Realms through sheer cunning and force of will.

Five Best Things about the book.

Once transformed into her monstrous self, it takes time for Morathi's rage to subside: hours, even days, may pass before she can reassume her aelf-queen aspect. So great was her anger during the Blood Strife Wars that she remained in her Shadow Queen form for months.

The current aelven gods Tyrion, Teclis and Malerion had discovered that the souls of their kind were still held tormented within Slaanesh. Now they sought her out as someone who would not only have unique insight into their captor but also could serve as irresistible bait for the Dark Prince. [5b] Later he wielded the sword Urithain the Destroyer. [2b] During the battle for the Blighted Isle, Urithain was shattered by Tyrion wielding Sunfang. [2c] I will not [die]. And your son Malekith will not. And if you listen to me, you will not either. If you go today you forfeit immortality. Stay with me and live forever."

Morathi remembers how Aenarion would always say: Better to be ashes than dust, meaning one would rather burn bright and short rather than to live a long, slow decline. [3a]

To him, it was a potent, heady brew that had fuelled many memorable days, and even more memorable nights. Indeed, rage did not make Morathi ugly, but beautiful and dangerous. The fact that she never frightened or intimidated him made Aenarion suspect that intrigued her, perhaps being the only person her rage never daunted. [5a] When she was eleven years old she began to receive prophetic visions, apocalyptic glimpses of the deamonic invasion to come but the other Elves, lulled by their idyllic, peaceful existence did not listen to her warnings. As time passed she tried again and again, seducing princes, prophesying and using her beauty to gain the attention of the great and the good including the Everqueen. No-one listened, and then the Daemons came anyway. [7a]
