About this deal

If you're using your lamp to help with the winter blues, bright light in the morning has been shown to be most effective so try that first. For some people, early evening light exposure is beneficial. Once you've found a pattern that's right for you, try to use it around the same time every day. Workshops - Mind Your Head staff can deliver primary and secondary workshops around mental health and wellbeing. These workshops can be tailored to respond to current needs.

Delivered a range of education initiatives, including Minders, The Secondary School Roadshow and created an information card for young people with advise on mental health and wellbeing The programme offers support for up to three months on individual basis and is delivered in a variety of settings, and at intervals that meet the individual’s needs. For some people these bouts of low mood can be short-lived and manageable, but for others these periods can become prolonged and can interfere with their day-to-day functioning. Once we have accepted you into the service we will plan your first support session with your practitioner within the next 5 working days (unless we are currently have a waiting list). Your initial assessment on the WEMWBS will be used to develop a support plan, identifying individual person-centred goals; activities will be identified on how to achieve these goals.

The Wellness Together Programme (WTP) is a short-term service of around 6-8 weeks and is open to anyone aged 18 and over, is free and confidential. The person that you are supporting does not need to have a diagnosis.Collaborated with Shetland Islands Council Youth Services to develop and deliver a self-care session to 1400 secondary school students Our first fundraising event was the Round Spiggie Fun Run and Walk which took place in August 2005. Entrants were able to walk or run a 5k or 10k route around the beautiful Spiggie Loch in South Mainland, Shetland. Due to the success of this event, we decided to hold it as our annual fundraising event. The event has grown significantly over the years and in 2013, more than 600 people took part. Of equal importance to the funds raised is the statement that the event makes about mental health, where people are becoming more open about their personal situation and others less frightened by the taboo of mental health. Milestones Don't be afraid to ask someone if they have had suicidal thoughts or if they are thinking of suicide. There is a misconception that by simply asking, you are putting the idea into their head. Openly listening and discussing someone's thoughts of suicide can be a source of relief for them. As mentioned above, asking and listening can be one of the most important steps you can take in supporting someone.
