About this deal

Well…one thing leads to another and next thing we know Hallie is sneaking out of his hotel room ala walk of shame after a pretty hot and heavy one-night stand (or so we are led to believe). The next morning she wakes up with fuzzy memories of her DONC. To her horror, Emile realizes her DONC was not without consequences. The universe has ended her predictable repetition of Valentine’s Day and she wakes to the horror of finding out now she’s in deep trouble. She’s having to answer some serious consequences for her frolic of DONC. the love wager was by far the worst book i have read in 2023 and i will live by that statement until i die– i would highly recommend staying the HELL away from this book (and if you truly want to endure a lifetime of pain and suffering, get a copy from the library.) Painter follows up Mr. Wrong Number with an equally cute friends to lovers romance…Their equally filthy sense of humor makes their connection feel real and their game of constant one-upmanship is a lot of fun. Painter’s fans won’t be disappointed.”— Publishers Weekly Well, I have to admit, I loved Mr. Wrong Number a little more! Friends to lovers is also great trope but I prefer enemies to lovers a little more!

Ms. Painter brings us another riotous YA Rom-Com with The Do-Over. Emile Hornby is spending Valentine’s Day, self-soothing with a quart of Ben & Jerry’s, chocolate, of course. The whole day was a dump including losing a much needed scholarship, hearing her parents are splitting up, and she totally caught her boyfriend cheating on her. On Valentine’s Day! Self-soothing with with consolation ice cream was all she could do. So she goes to bed feeling horrible about her life. Yes, that makes TWO weddings in this book but it worked and their forced proximity situation finally got them to get over their initial hesitations and just bang again 😊. I already know this is going to be one of my favourites of the year . . . Just perfection. I want to read this book again already' 5* READER REVIEW They text each other about their dates, often scheduling them at the same restaurant so that if things don’t go well, the two of them can get tacos afterward.

Smart, sexy, and downright hilarious. Mr Wrong Number is an absolutely pitch-perfect romantic comedy' CHRISTINA LAUREN, author of THE UNHONEYMOONERS Read more Look Inside Details Prom is coming and Liz has made a deal with Wes, her tormenting devil-of-the-boy next door, to get her invited to the party where her crush is going to be. If she could just get in front of Michael she knew she could get him to invite her to the prom. and remember, do NOT read the love wager by lynn painter. you will save yourself from insurmountable frustration and annoyance. Who can find love first? To keep them both motivated to keep dating and going outside of their comfort zone, but they have tacos together after the dates to look forward to. These two have so much chemistry, but because of how they met they’re determined to stay friends. Until Hallie needs a date to her sisters wedding and another wedding changes everything.

i'm forced to say it. this book has a 4.04 average rating, but it's cringey, outdated, unromantic, silly, creepy, and weird. Because they took any potential relationship off the table from the get-go, it seemed like they were able to just be themselves with each other which was so refreshing and which really built the foundation of their friendship and connection. The Love Wager is only my second book by Lynn Painter and so far her writing is fun, full of banter, easy to read, interesting without crazy drama. Basically the quintessential romcoms, without being cringey. Fans of alternating points of view, slow-burn romances, fake dating, and witty banter will enjoy Lynn Painter’s latest. The Love Wager , Painter’s follow-up to Mr. Wrong Number , employs all of these for a charming friends-to-lovers romantic comedy.it seems like i haven't liked a romance in a while, which is unfair, and life is supposed to be kind and sweet and nice to me always; I had an absolute blast reading this book! I was consistently laughing out loud . . . This book is fun and entertaining and I didn't want to put it down' 5* READER REVIEW

AFONAFKANFKANFKNKNGKNKGJFDJDJDJDJ!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been a couple days since I finished this one and I STILL don't know how to rate it. The best way to sum up my feelings about this book is: it's like dating a guy who's a total wildcard. You want to bring him around your friends, but you don't know what version is gonna show up.The most sidesplittingly funny, sexual tension-filled book I've read in a long, long time. I dare you not to fall in love!' ALI HAZELWOOD, author of THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS The banter was so forced and cringey, I was physically rolling my eyes and audibly scoffing. The FMC has some of the worst internalized misogyny/white feminism I've read in a book in a very long time, and of course the MMC goes along with it and spouts his fair share of "she's not like other girls." Beyond that, FMC is just completely and totally unlikeable, obstinate, and contrarian, and MMC is not much better. There's no depth to either one of them. i hope my pain and suffering brought you some sort of humour, i’ll be here all evening tearing this book to shreds. call me the matt rife of the goodreads community (or don’t) (actually don’t i’m not that funny)
