About this deal

Having a log store also means you can buy more wood in advance, and season any green wood that you have cut.

At 116 cm wide and 123 cm high, it has a capacity of 0.75 m³ (which equates to about 225 standard logs) whilst taking up a lot less room than a lot of the other log stores featured here. If you’re only burning a living-room fire for a few nights a week, this should be an adequate store to keep enough wood nearby. You might normally buy/cut wood and then just leave it out in the garden, elevated on pallets or simply resting on the floor. This can work ok for a bit, but if there’s any bad weather, or just general humidity (we do live in the UK after all!), these logs will get damp.A true giant amongst log stores, our Empingham model is the ultimate in log store design and offers unparalled levels of storage and, with our optional doors, protection for the most demanding of households. Like all of our wooden furniture, the Empingham log Store is made using high quality, pressure treated timber from approved, sustainable sources, so as well as lasting for years you can be sure that it is environmentally sound too. We also use corrosion treated heavy duty fixings throughout so that the components remain securely fastened year after year. Dimensions: Height: 181 cm Width: 340 cm Depth: 80 cm Weight: 158 kg Furthermore, while metal is durable it is likely to rust and corrode over time. A pressure treated timber simply lasts much longer over the long-term and is often cheaper too. Assembly If your logs are close to hand in a log store, you’ll find it easier to prepare your log-burning fire or stove and keep it burning. It can be very easy to just keep a small supply of wood by the fireplace, but once it’s been burnt you might be tempted to pop the heating on. A log store will allow you to store more firewood close to the house, so you won’t have to go far to get more in. Ideally you want to find the balance between the wood store being as open as possible, but protected from the elements! Comes complete with corrosion treated heavy duty screws so that the panels remain securely fastened year after year.

This wood has an attractive silvery finish, and doesn’t discolour as much as pine wood. It’s also been pressure treated, so doesn’t need any further treatment against rot for the first few years. Due to the large size of a lot of log stores, you’ll benefit from having a power screwdriver and an extra pair of hands to help out. The dimensions are 150 x 127 cm and it will hold 0.9 m³, which is approximately 280 standard logs. If you’re burning a fire for a couple of evenings a week, this will likely be a good size. And, equally, there are few things worse than realising you don’t have wood fuel when you need it, or that the logs you do have are too damp to burn. Feather-edge panels allow some ventilation in but have smaller gaps between them than slats. Slats offer more ventilation, but don’t protect as well against the elements. Preparing and seasoning wood needs to be done long before you actually need to use your wood burner. A log store is a great way to keep your wood safe and dry, preparing it for the winter months. In terms of construction, this log store is a bit more interesting than the others featured here – it’s made from the wood of a Nordic Spruce (more commonly seen in its original tree form at Christmas!), which is generally stronger than pine. If you’re placing your log store in a windy area, where you think a lot of rain may be blown in if you have a unit with slats, feather-edge panels will be a better, more-protective, bet. Good Ventilation and Weather Protection

If you frequently burn through a large number of logs, you might struggle to keep enough close to hand for when you need them. As with all our products, we only use FSC approved sources for our pressure-treated timbers. This means that you can rest assured that your new log store will stand up to the test of time whilst still being an environmentally friendly option. As well as ensuring our timbers are durable, we also only use heavy duty fixings, including corrosion-treated screws to help make sure that your new log store remains securely fixed together and fully functional for many years to come. Being able to store a high volume of logs is always convenient. You need to replace logs less often and will always have a steady supply of dried logs perfect for burning. Many people divide their storage into separate compartments, one for dried logs and another for wetter logs still to dry, with a higher capacity making this much easier. Placement You’ll want to base the size of your log store on how many logs you have. For up to 300 logs, a small store measuring around 150 x 150 cm will be sufficient . These stores will have an internal capacity of approximately 1 m³ and are ideal for a small garden. A larger log store, with a capacity of 1.5 m³ or more, will be better suited to a large garden and will hold at least 450 logs.

Also, consider how exposed the store is wherever you are placing it. If it is going to face wind and rainfall, then a store with a door is recommended to help keep it dry, otherwise, you may want a waterproof material like a tarpaulin to cover the opening and keep logs at the front drier. Design
