About this deal

The relatively firm O-ring used in the jailhousing modification of these Cherry MX Blues leads them to have a significantly more snappy feeling than that of the Mute Box Jades. From experience, squishier O-rings would likely cause the jailhoused switches to feel more in line with the Box Mute Jades. Kailh Box Jade switches are mechanical keyboard switches, similar to Cherry MX switches. They are manufactured by Kailh, a subsidiary of Razer. So I must apologize ahead of time, even though I planned on making this post I completely forgot to take any pictures, but without further ado let's get on with the "review." As we mentioned earlier, we have foundno relationship between a shorter actuation distance and a faster reaction time.

I have no idea why they are circle shaped but still called BOX switches… you’ll just have to ask someone at Kailh.

Kailh Box Jade Switches are the newest addition to Kailh’s line of mechanical keyboard switches. They are a step up from the Kailh Blue switches, with a shorter travel distance and a higher actuation point. They are also available in both linear and tactile varieties. This makes them ideal for gaming or typing in silence. Linear switches are smooth and silent, making them perfect for gaming. Kailh switches are generally known to be scratchy, which makes them not the best for those who like tactile or linear switches. I like the switches, even if they make my hands tired after any heavy use. They are extremely tactile and are fun to type on. I am definitely keeping these on my Kona as my daily driver (and if you all like this post maybe I'll make another about my long term impression of the switch after I've had more time with it).

Kailh Box Jade Switches are a brand of keyboard switch that originated in China. The company was founded in 2004, and originally produced Cherry MX clones. Kailh Box Jade Switches are now a subsidiary of Kailh, which also produces Cherry MX switches. That said, I personally like heavier switches, and have never experienced any pain typing on the Jades. I built in my Kona Classic that I got from a group buy earlier in the year. This board is designed by u/AuthenticDanger and was really fun to build and has tons of layout options which I was keen on at the time. Now, the build went much as expected except when it came to the more open portions of the plate, being manufactured in a softer material (I believe the plate was Delron, which is similar to acrylic but with a bit more flex). I had the enter key twist ever so slightly, and coupled with the stabilizers caused a bit too much friction for the key to return if a key cap was put on it. I created a scene and a profile in OBS Studio that captures both the recording microphone and the headset microphone to two separate streams, and then I duplicated the device captures to add the RNNoise filter. This allows me to have four separate streams, two per microphone with one being an unfiltered version and the other being with just RNNoise enabled. With an FFmpeg script I have the video removed from the recording, the audio converted to FLAC, and the audio made mono. (OBS Studio seems to only be able to record in stereo, even when the source is mono.)
