The author is known, but requested to remain anonymous. It is included in the bibliography of books ascribed to Valentin Tomberg. According to Hermeticism, man has the potential to access the same divine knowledge that exists within the universe. However, this knowledge must be actively sought after through study, reflection, and meditation (Copenhaver, 1992). Authored by the renowned figure Hermes Trismegistus, this ancient text doesn't list out "rules" like the Kybalion, but is full of intriguing concepts that can stir up our understanding of life and the cosmos: Other important original Hermetic texts include Isis the Prophetess to Her Son Horus, [64] which consists of a long dialogue between Isis and Horus on the fall of man and other matters; the Definitions of Hermes Trismegistus to Asclepius; [65] and many fragments, which are chiefly preserved in the anthology of Stobaeus. Some scholars believe these to be hoaxes of the time and say that later Rosicrucian organizations are the first actual appearance of a Rosicrucian society. [74]

That’s mostly due to his affiliation with the reactionary Right. But he has some excellent non-political works, The Hermetic Tradition being one of them. The body of the work is divided into 22 chapters, called "letters", with a foreword by the author and an afterword by Hans Urs von Balthasar, a Swiss theologian nominated to be a cardinal. Each chapter is centered on a card from the Major Arcana of the Tarot of Marseilles. According to hermeticism, the purpose of life is to understand and fulfill one's own unique purpose, to live in harmony with the universe, and to seek enlightenment (Copenhaver, 1992).Reversed meaning: You may have forgotten your blessings, and you’ll need to reflect on what you’re grateful for in your life to allow your sun to shine again. a b Carrasco, David; Warmind, Morten; Hawley, John Stratton; Reynolds, Frank; Giarardot, Norman; Neusner, Jacob; Pelikan, Jaroslav; Campo, Juan; Penner, Hans; etal.
