About this deal

There’s also a turbocharge mode that lets you charge the headset for only 7 minutes to get two full hours of use out of it. And if you swipe the slide switch once you’ll get a voice notification telling you at what percentage the battery life stands.

Once upon a time, Sennheiser made excellent headsets for gaming that looked more sophisticated than their RGB-daubed cousins and sounded like they’d been made by a long-established pro audio company - funny, that. Then EPOS took over those lines and refreshed them with an eye on repositioning them juuust slightly more towards the lifestyle market. This confidence is neither unwarranted nor unearned, but it does place a higher emphasis on the core features. Bluetooth pairing to smartphones was easy. The 20-hour battery life via that connection held true at least for the first charge. Bottom Line The GSP 300 headset is a great starting point for those looking to get into Sennheiser gaming headsets - but one that can also stand in its own right given the quality, and value in particular, that it offers. As I said in my review, "getting a Sennheiser-quality headset like this, at this price point, and with this device-versatility, is an excellent proposition and one that is easy to recommend". We can’t say that we’ve felt any difference when switching to these modes, but the default sound is so good that you won’t feel the need to switch in the first place. The Sennheiser GSP 670 is the result of years of development and is not only our first wireless headset, but also the best wireless headset for gamers to date. It combines all the strengths for which Sennheiser is well-known all over the world: maximum wearing comfort, audio performance of the highest level, and clever features that you couldn't do without," says Andreas Jessen, Director of Product Management Gaming at Sennheiser Communications A/S. And even though it was made for gaming, everything sounds terrific on this headset: music, movies, you name it.

There's always a slight trade-off when the EQ curve is styled to sound good rather than to sound totally flat as with studio monitors. Usually, it comes in the tiny details in the upper midrange and the treble. However, the overall sound is better for its intended purpose when it's sculpted in this way. While it's not massively dissimilar to the GSP 300 headset above, the GSP 500 does manage to distinguish itself in some key areas. First, the microphone is excellent. Really excellent. As soon as I started using it, my teammates commented on the quality and clarity of it. The left earcup features the microphone and charging port, but it also has a slide switch that serves multiple purposes, while the right earcup comes with a large volume wheel, smart button, and a smaller chat mix wheel. You might not be able to directly compare the results against other headsets unless there were a good way to calibrate them to a specific volume level though, which might require something like a binaural microphone that simulates human ears to more accurately account for different headset designs.

Although the GSP 370s make it somewhat hard to truly, truly go for the more expensive 670, if you're after supreme Sennheiser quality, then this is the headset for you. Its performance across games of any stripe, as well as media, is supreme. In any game, it doesn't matter what's going on or what the scenario or surroundings are, the GSP 670s will give you world-beating audio clarity, depth, breadth, and detail. Of course, if you’re a fan of flashy accessories, you can still breathe some life into the GSP 670 by swapping the removable side plates. The selection of side plates isn’t too varied, but the customizability option is present. However, this cable-free model features a 16-hour battery life (or up to 20 when connected via Bluetooth) and very low latency. Not only were the battery life claims not tested, but the "very low latency" was not tested either. It would be nice to see benchmarks for some of the characteristics of these headsets rather than just subjective opinions and the manufacturer's specifications. That likely wouldn't be too hard to do within a week of mostly unattended tests. The GSP 670 sports an aesthetic that is hard to dislike. The angular, futuristic shape combined with the sleek and stylish color scheme simply gives off an impression that feels distinctly gaming but is not distracting. Comfort One being Asus and its ROG / Strix line which tend to have garishly over the top angular designs full of RGB lighting that make them look more like a prop from a Predator movie than a pair of headphones. The other being SteelSeries, which tends to make wonderfully discrete headsets that look a lot like regular headphones.
