It puts a mirror on our audience – it’s a celebration of our music but it’s literally all about the fans and their friendships. Founding members Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, who quit Take That in 2014 and retired from touring and making music, isn't involved in the project. While Greatest Days doesn’t exactly break any new ground, it investigates its theme thoroughly. Tim Firth’s script withholds a specific detail about the girls’ past, but it’s not too difficult to guess exactly what happened. This makes Greatest Days feel slightly awkward and this specific plot grievance becomes the elephant in the room.

It was previously reported that Cush Jumbo, Ruth Wilson and Rosamund Pike were in talks to feature in the film.

Former Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc’s sister Coky Giedroyc has directed the film, with Take That executive producing alongside David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers.

Rounded out by a brilliant ensemble cast that includes Amaka Okafor (as Zoe), Jayde Adams (Claire) and Alice Lowe (Heather), the narrative switches between the past and the present with interludes of song and dance that not only help move the story along but offer a depth to the emotions and bonds these friends all share. The adult performers are very nearly, and in some scenes completely, upstaged by their teenage counterparts. Jessie Mae Alonzo is particularly mesmerising and Lara McDonnell as young Rachel is the spitting image of Bea. After a life-changing event sees the young girls go their separate ways, they reunite 25 years later, when Rachel wins a local radio competition to see the boys on their reunion tour in Greece. The estimated DVD and Blu-ray release date for Greatest Days is September 2023. The movie has been out for around since its theatrical release. DVD/Blu-ray releases typically come out 12-16 weeks after the theatrical premiere. Tim Firth wrote the musical, which began touring in 2017, and told the Daily Mail about the story: "A tragedy happens, then we jump forward 25 years to see the women those girls became and they realise they were fools to have been apart for so long.

Take That's musical 'Greatest Days' will be released across cinemas in the UK and Ireland on Friday, June 16. The boys will always be Rachel’s support system," explains leading lady Aisling. "She may not have needed them as much lately as she did before, but when she does need them, they are always there for her. Even when sometimes she wishes they weren't!" Could it be magic? Is Greatest Days on Prime Video?

A jukebox musical featuring the works of Take That might not ever be one for the cool kids; undoubtedly this is a bit broad, but it’s a splurge of feelgood from director Coky Giedroyc and screenwriter Tim Firth, adapting his own stage show, and it’s at least as enjoyable as the much-hyped Mamma Mia! movies. Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald will executive produce the film, just as they did for The Band. Robbie Williams and Mark Owen reunite as they sit in Robbie's kids' high chairs: 'Babies of the band!' Principal photography took place in Clitheroe, Lancashire in April 2022 before moving to Athens. [3] Reception [ edit ] The boys in the band are being played by newcomers Aaron Bryan, Dalvin Cory, Joshua Jung, Mark Samaras and Mervin Noronha.

Directed by Coky Giedroyc, Greatest Days is simply charming. Giedroyc previously directed How To Build A Girl , a coming-of-age film starring Beanie Feldstein, and Greatest Days works as a wonderful companion piece to that. Both films have such an intimate understanding of what it means to be a teenage girl; Giedroyc explores the trials and tribulations of budding womanhood with care and humour, but never at the expense of her characters. Based in Massachusetts, National Amusements is a closely held company operating under the third generation of leadership by the Redstone family. National Amusements is the parent company of Paramount Global. Ultimately, Greatest Days is surprisingly brilliant and disarmingly honest. It manages to say something meaningful about friendships, growing up and grief without ever forgetting to smile through the pain. You might find you have something in your eye during the last 20 minutes, but you don’t need to be a Take That fanatic to enjoy this joyous musical. It's also been revealed that the boys will be performing live at the incredibly special London premiere of the film on Thursday 15th June. Reading & Leeds 2024 announces Fred Again.., Liam Gallagher and Lana Del Rey among headliners

Greatest Days is the jukebox musical movie that follows five young best friends who have the night of their lives seeing their favourite boyband in concert in the 1990s. Greatest Days is written by Tim Firth, who also wrote the stage show of the same name (originally titled The Band) on which the film is based, directed by Coky Giedroyc and produced by Danny Perkins. Take That's Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald are credited as executive producers. It’s about friendship and the power of the songs they loved. The band and the bits are secondary; it’s about the fans who loved them." Our fans have been on a 30-year journey with us and we have an incredibly strong bond with them, so seeing that they will be represented on screen by such a strong, talented cast is incredibly exciting.” Who will star in the film version of Take That's Greatest Days? Adapted from the stage musical The Band (now renamed after the movie and on a UK tour), Greatest Days isn't exactly subtle in its approach. It's clear that something devastating happened 25 years ago, and it's fairly obvious what it was even though it's kept for a late-stage reveal.
