Tekkno is the sixth studio album by German metalcore band Electric Callboy. The album was released on 16 September 2022 through Century Media Records. It is the band's first album to feature Nico Sallach as the band's clean vocalist and their first since they changed their name from Eskimo Callboy to Electric Callboy. On 24 April 2020, frontman Kevin Ratajczak announced on YouTube that the search for a new singer was over. After an application phase, a video followed on 4 June 2020, announcing that Nico Sallach (former lead singer of the band To the Rats and Wolves) [17] would be the new lead singer of the band. [18] On 19 June 2020, the band released the song "Hypa Hypa". [19] On 24 July 2020, the band released the song "Hate/Love". [19] On 11 September 2020, the band released the EP MMXX. [17] The ARIA Report: Week Commencing 26 September 2022". The ARIA Report. No.1699. Australian Recording Industry Association. 26 September 2022. p.6. On 22 December 2021, the band announced that they were removing old songs from all platforms due to offensive lyrics and that they would be changing their band name. On March 9, 2022, the band announced their new name, Electric Callboy from now on. The band changed the word 'Eskimo' to 'Electric' because it can be seen as a derogatory name for the Inuit and Yupik people in Alaska. They subsequently re-released the artwork from their previous albums with their new name. Even in the moments that are much less synth-based, the approach to composition, riffage and playing feels like them essentially writing what would be huge, total-banger synth lines, and then transposing them onto guitars instead, and thus you can dance and rave just as hard to the breakdowns and chugging riffs on here as you can with the drops, synth crescendos and singalong dance sections; it's seriously incredible stuff, and yet is executed so smoothly and naturally blended in that you might not even notice it to begin with. One of my favourite things about the electronic components of the album is how the band don't try to necessarily sound particularly modern/contemporary either with them, as is usually the case with other metalcore acts when implementing synths these days. On-brand as ever with their unapologetic love for classic, shamelessly fun vibes, the band very specifically draws from classic 80s, 90s and early 2000s eurodance/eurobeat, trance, acid house, hardstyle, schlager and more when it comes to the exact tone and soundscape of the synths, beats and loops at play here.

The band started recording their second album at Kohlekeller Studios together with producer Kristian Kohlmannslehner in autumn of 2013. The album, We Are the Mess, was released on 10 January 2014 via Redfield Records and Warner Music Japan. [10] The band played five release shows in Germany supported by Annisokay. We Are the Mess peaked in 8th place on Germany's official long-play charts and in 64th place in Austria. The band toured in Japan to promote their album. [11] In March of that year, the band toured Europe supported by Iwrestledabearonce, Her Bright Skies and To the Rats and Wolves. [12] Music News: Electric Callboy Announce New Album 'Tekkno' ". Bring the Noise. 20 April 2022 . Retrieved 12 December 2022. Anyone else get some major “Dayman” vibes from this one? I can’t help but think that Electric Callboy have been watching too much “Always Sunny In Philadelphia” (as we all should be of course). That’s honestly all I can think of whenever I hear “Spaceman” come on. However, I am a huge fan of the show, so this is a very fun reminder. Spaceman is the third single from TEKKNO and it is also the first time on the record that the band utilized German lyrics. Brown, Paul (19 August 2022). It's easy to dismiss this as just "haha funny heavy music with synths go brrr" but there's a real ingenuity and incredible sense of musicality to how this thing is structured and plays out. The first self-titled EP was self-released in 2010 and was distributed via EMP. Later the band re-released the EP via their actual recording label Redfield Records. The band was a support act for groups like Bakkushan, Callejon, Ohrbooten, We Butter the Bread with Butter and Neaera.
