Daddy Long Legs are blind but have very keen hearing to compensate for it. When they hear something, their cores emit particles in the direction of the sound's source. Brown Daddy Long Legs [ edit | edit source ] Finding a secure tunnel with multiple entrances to hide out in and throwing Rubbish or Spears towards where you want the Daddy Long Legs to go is the most consistent method to lure them away from the player. You can also distract them temporarily by feeding them smaller creatures, as they stay in place when eating. Daddy Long Legs may also be temporarily deafened by the loud noises made by explosives such as Cherrybombs and Grenades, allowing the player to evade Daddy Long Legs by disabling their ability to find the player. Proto Daddy Long Legs can also be found in Garbage Wastes as Artificer and Spearmaster, in Shaded Citadel, The Exterior, and The Rot as Rivulet, and in Rubicon as Saint. Daddy Long Legs have variance in the size and number of their cores and tentacles, having anywhere between 4-7 cores and 5-12 tentacles. Directly running away from a Daddy Long Legs in an open area is not recommended. They are faster than you, and running away is noisy - meaning they will know exactly where you are. Additionally, moving into another room does not necessarily guarantee the player's safety, as Daddy Long Legs are capable of moving through room entrance pipes and may do so if they suspect that their target has gone through one. Furthermore, Daddy Long Legs do not lose interest easily and may linger in the same spot for several minutes around where it last heard a sound.
Stationary Daddy Long Legs can be found in certain clusters of Proto Daddy Long Legs. These creatures do not have a den, and do not shelter when the rain arrives. Despite this, they are still considered as a creature by the game, and can thus be killed like any other Daddy Long Legs. Proto Daddy Long Legs are a stationary threat infesting the walls in Five Pebbles's Unfortunate Development subregion. They are placed objects rather than creatures (and as such, are unkillable and immobile), but can still grab onto the player with their stubby tentacles should they stray too close - and are near inescapable once latched on. Conversely, the long tentacles connecting patches of Proto Daddy Long Legs can be safely grabbed onto like poles, and used to propel oneself through zero-gravity.
