About this deal

If your cat is camped out in front of the fan or air conditioner, they’ll probably appreciate the addition of a cat cooling mat. Keeping in mind that every cat (and cat parent) has different needs, we’ve rounded up six of our favorite cat cooling pads to help your kitty chill. Best All-Purpose Mat: ArfPets Self-Cooling Pet Bed (Verified Review) If you love the design of the CAT cooler but don't love the yellow or don't need the cooler to be branded with the CAT logo then have a look at Taiga coolers. Bear Proofing – There is no information about whether or not the CAT cooler is bear proof so I assumed that it isn't. We love the handles on this cooler. They are slim and molded into the cooler. Oh, wait, that’s just one set of handles. You can hold the cooler up by the molded handles, which are very ergonomically sound, by the way, or you can use nylon handles fitted into the sides. Caterpillar didn’t mention anything about the ice retention capabilities, only saying that it was good, so we decided to test it ourselves. We put our drinks in the cooler on a Friday (as usual), and waited it out. By Monday the ice was still there. We noticed the first signs of melting on Wednesday and full water by late Thursday of the next week.

Be sure to pay attention to nursing care, including keeping your cat’s nostrils clean and clear by frequently wiping with a damp tissue, gauze, or pet wipes, like Furbliss. The lid itself is secured by rubber T-rex latches. T-rex latches are pretty common in the cooler industry, most popularly being seen on Yeti and Rtic coolers. That doesn’t mean that all T-rex latches are of the same quality, however. Some of them are made of cheap plastic and will shatter the first chance they get. Others are made of rubber but are way too floppy. That means they easily come unlatched. The ideal size will depend on your cat's height and weight, as well as the number of cats you want to shelter. But according to Quandt, one cat typically needs around four to six square feet of space. "For reference, the area of a medium-sized dog crate per cat is about right," he says. Your cats should have enough space to stand up and turn around, but not enough room to let their body heat escape. Keep in mind, too, that the smaller the house, the better it can retain heat. Using cool or tepid water, thoroughly and continuously wet your cat’s fur. DO NOT use ice or cold water since this can make the situation worse. The Lymax cooler shortened this to 30 to 45 minutes, of which the first 30 was with the fan running. With the Lymax though, you don't use it while observing so I install it while setting up and pull it just before observing. There isn't a way for me to know whether it helps as I can't observe while turning it off. I just assume it helps, use it, and don't stress about what benefit it supplied. Unlike my Mak fans, at least it has air filters. Caterpillar understands this. They fashioned the hinge of the lid on their Cat cooler out of an aluminum rod. The lid will hold its position when you open it and you don’t have to hold it up as you do your business in the cooler. Add apersonal touch to your Cat ® cooler with UV protected graphics. Make sure yourcooler is all about you, each time the cooler lid is opened. Create your own graphic by uploading in our configurator. NO MINIMUM quantities required. Specs

The Hydro pad consists of three layers: an insulating foam insert, a FlexiFreeze ice sheet, and one waterbed cushion to distribute the cold from the ice.The sturdy rip-stop material makes this mat a solid choice for cats who can’t help scratching. And it also means you can use this bed indoors or outdoors without worrying about a tear or a leak. However, our testing found the Hydro mat does get slightly damp to the touch, so water-averse kitties might appreciate a towel placed on top. The K&H Pet Products Extra-Wide Outdoor Kitty House is big enough to house multiple cats but not so large they'll struggle to warm it up with their body heat. It has a velcro-attached roof, door flaps, and a machine-washable, cushioned pad for added comfort. If you're setting up a shelter for feral or community cats, it's also important to remember that they may not want to bed down together. Ninnemann recommends setting up multiple houses instead of one large house if you think more than one cat in the neighborhood may use it. You have several options for sheltering outdoor cats and feral cats in extreme weather. Ideally, you can offer cats access to a garage, barn, or shed that won't become soggy in the elements. If the building has electricity, setting up a heated bed or heated cat house will help keep outdoor kitties warm. If you don't have a space to welcome cold cats, set up a pre-made cat house or build your own with material that won't leak. Make sure to insulate your structure and place it in a location as protected from the elements as possible. According to Wolko, you should never put blankets or towels in an outdoor cat shelter because they will trap moisture and may even freeze. Phillips recommends buying or making a shelter with only one entrance. A single entry prevents a wind tunnel from forming and helps retain more heat.
