About this deal

Butter Buds ® Sprinkles contain about 10 calories per serving. Each one teaspoon (2 g) serving is equivalent in flavor to about one tablespoon of butter or margarine, which contain about 100 calories and 11 grams of fat. For each flavor, a half-teaspoon serving—described by the manufacturer as equivalent to three tablespoons of butter—contains four calories compared to the almost 20 calories in a half-teaspoon of butter, but also contains 90 milligrams of sodium. What are the ingredients in Molly McButter? To conclude, Butter Buds are low in syns, having just 0.5 syns for a 2g sachet, this makes them a great condiment to add to dishes for a buttery taste without the fat or to use in baking when mixed with water.

Usage rate will vary from applications to application, however typically our ingredients can be used as low as (0.1 – 0.25% TBW) in beverages / sauces / topicals / and products at low pH levels. Usually our products need to be used at slightly higher levels (1.0 – 4.0% TBW) when processing conditions are harsher and more water loss occurs baking / frying / extrusion. Because most butter powders are made with nonfat milk powder, they have a slightly milky taste. You aren’t going to get a strong buttery flavor, and the texture isn’t as creamy as regular butter. The nonfat milk powder also means that butter powder has less fat than regular butter, so eating it isn’t as satiating. Some cheap butter powders are made with a simpler method: butter is mixed with maltodextrin, a starchy powder that absorbs fats and turns them into powder. Maltodextrin is also used to make peanut butter powder. What Does Butter Powder Taste Like? Please note: UK standard calories work out at seven per sachet; the sachets are printed in America and use a USA standard for calculating calories. While rancid butter is generally considered safe to eat (it won’t give you food poisoning like spoiled milk will), it does develop an unpleasant taste. If stored with certain methods, butter powder can easily last 10 years without going rancid. How to Store Butter Powder Long-Term Yes, you can freeze butter – in fact, unsalted butter can last up to five months; salted butter up to nine with proper storage. To keep it tasting as fresh as possible, keep the frozen butter in its original wrapping. You can also wrap it in foil or plastic and put it in an air-tight container. Are Butter Buds good for you? Butter Buds ® Sprinkles are ideal as a topping for warm, moist foods such as potatoes, vegetables, pasta, rice and hot cereal. Butter Buds ® Sprinkles may also be used as a substitute for butter, margarine or oil in low fat cooking and baking. According to the USDA, butter (opened or unopened) can be kept in the refrigerator for one to three months. It can also be frozen for up to a year. The taste and texture will change considerably after that point, so aim to only buy as much as you think you can use within a year. Can you eat expired eggs? You could also make powdered butter by mixing regular butter with maltodextrin, adding small amounts until you get a powdery consistency. Generally, you will need 40g of maltodextrin for each 100g of butter to get a powder (or calculate 40% of the weight of the butter). Shelf Life of Butter Powder

Olive oil: While it is also difficult to store, it has many more uses than butter and is probably easier to rotate through. Loved by Lakeland customers for the authentic buttery flavour, Butter Buds Sachets are great for anyone who’s trying to reduce their calorie intake or avoid the risks of cholesterol in their diet. Adding a fabulous buttery taste when sprinkled onto baked potatoes, steamed fish, vegetables, rice or pasta, each sachet of freeze-dried granules contains less than ten calories – a fraction of the 100 calories you’d find in a tablespoon-sized knob of butter. Mixed into wet foods: Such as mashed potatoes or sauces. The powder dissolves into the wetness, so you get a buttery flavor without clumping. It won’t work well on non-wet foods like veggies. Sprinkle lightly on the popcorn, after adding and tossing the melted butter mixture. (I use it in soups too and steamed veggies!) Growing up, « Butter Buds » (not Molly McButter) was a staple in our kitchen. I loved Butter Buds! Do Butter Buds taste like butter?Contrary to common belief, butter powder is not made with conventional dehydrating or freeze-drying methods. You probably won’t notice any difference if using butter powder in baked goods, but it may be noticeable as a spread. Butter powder made with maltodextrin has a milder buttery taste, and the texture isn’t as smooth when reconstituted. Can You Make Butter Powder At Home? Containing real butter, Butter Bud granules undergo a special process that removes the fat and water content to produce a concentrated dairy powder. When sprinkled over hot food – or mixed into sauces, mashed potatoes and baking – they'll butter up your taste buds, but they won’t affect your waistline! The vast majority of our products are spray dried on IP NON-GMO maltodextrin and our other raw materials are also NON-GMO. We have a select few products that are spray dried on standard maltodextrin.
