About this deal

This book, which is available in hardcover and Kindle formats, presents these gorgeous pictures along with reminders to appreciate the innumerable wonders all around you. You also get some interesting facts like when realistic clouds first started appearing in pictures. You enjoy the bands of pastel colors that form around clouds and learn why that happens. You also explore some photos that incorporate waterfalls and rainbows and that have poetry just beneath them. This is a book meant for those quiet moments when you want to return to center and remember that this world is vast and there is so much to be grateful for. Many events seem plonked into the novel for no more reason than to justify the shoehorning in of some such writerly observation or metaphor, the vast majority of which are jarringly unilluminating. And nothing that happens ever matters, and none of the imagery comes to anything, and none of it leads anywhere. According to the cover of the copy I read, Paul Auster liked BoC, and I can see why. One cool thing to remember with altostratus, though, is that these clouds often produce optical effects. Some of the more common optical effects that you might see with altostratus include cloud iridescence and coronas, so keep your eyes peeled if these clouds are in the sky. 3. High-Level Clouds Nothing seems to make Misty’s day better when she wakes up feeling stormy! And when Misty’s enormous emotions force a thunderstorm to rumble across the sky, it impacts everyone. But, with the aid of friends and family, Misty understands that she will occasionally be a little stormy — and that it will always pass.

One reviewer reported that the text was too tiny for them to read. One verified buyer didn’t like the “rather predictable moral slant,” and another prefers that books for toddlers not include negative behavior from any of the characters (in this case, the king). The Cloud Spinner by Michael Catchpool (Author), Alison Jay (Illustrator) Pros This book is rated 4.5 out of five stars. Customers warn that this book is not written for children — it’s more of a textbook about clouds with a wide array of magnificent photos. One customer says that it has very high-quality production with really accurate descriptions and wondrous imagery. Another customer says that it’s an easy-to-understand book with lots of pictures and explanations that land, even though she’s not well-versed when it comes to clouds. She uses it whenever she goes cloud-watching. With kids, they always want to know more about Zach, what kinds of things he liked, how he moved through the world – I think they relate to him. With other readers, they definitely wrestle with the scene where Rob and I talk about what we’d do if Zach was dying on the day of our oldest daughter Alli’s wedding. We knew those two things were going to happen close to each other, and we had to decide if they were happening at the same time, where did we need to be? And we chose Alli’s wedding. People really have a hard time with us deciding that. But Zach didn’t want us to miss the wedding; it was important to him that his sister have her day. And, while the thought of being away from Zach was gut-wrenching, WE wanted Alli to have her day too – we wanted to have the memory of her parents at her wedding to carry into her future. I wrote about that because I wanted people to understand… that’s the kind of thing we had to sit down and decide, we didn’t have the privilege of not making that decision. (Zach died 11 days before Alli’s wedding, and Laura and Rob were there for both.) You talk a lot about your Catholic faith in the book. Why was that an important component to include for you? For the most part, cap clouds are short-lived. They tend to form as a result of a very strong updraft and lots of moisture in the atmosphere. So, if you see these clouds, severe weather might be on its way to your location. In some respects the unresolved narrative reminds me of another book I recently read, "Event Factory". As with that novel the writing is crisp, precise, simple, yet also eloquent, creating tension with atmosphere rather than action. Tomie dePaola (1954 – 2020) was a renowned children’s book author and artist for nearly fifty years. Unlike all of the clouds that we’ve discussed so far, the clouds in this section don’t quite fit into any neat category. Many have unique shapes or odd formation patterns that make them difficult to categorize elsewhere. Most of our names for clouds come from Latin and are usually a combination of the following prefixes and suffixes: Several reviewers reported that they were disappointed by the content, including one who said, “I was expecting much more factual information including types of clouds. My daughter likes the pictures, but I was disappointed.” Pros and Cons of Explore My World Clouds byMarfe Ferguson Delano Pros

There was only one negative review, which read: “A useful book to help six year olds and above to think about death of a loved one. Sad to see grandparents not included in the list people who can provide a listening ear if needed. Personally, I found it less useful for under six year olds.” Pros and Cons of Lost in the Clouds by DK and Tom Tinn-Disbury ProsThere are different books about clouds, some for children, some for adults, some fiction, and some non-fiction. Tatiana compares fingernails to days: "You would only notice the erosion if my hands were at rest, otherwise the nails still looked elegant, a harmonious blur, just like the days themselves, which passed without consequence unless you pinned one down and examined it too closely." It really was agony. There were lots of tears, but it was also really good timing because I was writing right after Zach died so everything was still so fresh. Strangely, the hardest parts to write were the happy parts, I think because I was still early in the grieving process, so I wasn’t really there emotionally. It’s hard to write about times when you were happy and laughing while you’re so far from that place emotionally. What scenes in the book were the most important for you to get right? The afternoon is white, which results in a cloth matching that color. The little boy creates a cozy scarf to keep him warm, but the king sees how fine this scarf is and demands a whole wardrobe of clothing from the clouds. Similar to roll clouds, arcus clouds are a type of accessory cloud that forms at the front of a cumulonimbus.

In some instances, pileus clouds also appear to be rainbow in color. These rainbow colors are the result of an optical phenomenon called cloud iridescence, which is quite the sight to see. 2.6 Billow Clouds/Kelvin-Helmholtz Clouds When the he learns of the scarf the boy wove to keep himself warm, the kind demands him to weave a complete wardrobe for him.The real Zach Sobiech was a teenager and singer/songwriter from Stillwater, Minnesota. “Clouds” is based on the book “Clouds: A Memoir” written by Zach’s mom, Laura Sobiech. Laura wrote the book in just 12 weeks, shortly after Zach passed away on May 20, 2013. Although not much is known about these clouds, it’s thought that the heat from these forest fires and volcanic eruptions leads to convection in a localized area. This convection then causes the formation of large, billowing clouds that, in many ways, resemble immature cumulonimbus clouds. A couple of reviewers reported that their children were more afraid of storms after reading this book. Pros and Cons of Greta and the Dark Cloud by Lana Simkins (Author), Alina Shabelnyk (Illustrator) Pros As we’ve mentioned, cirrocumulus clouds are usually associated with calm weather. They form in a number of ways, most notably when turbulent eddies within the upper atmosphere break up a layer of cirrus clouds. 3.3 Cirrostratus (Cs) Is there any substance to this story? It's not just that Tatiana sees and feels and hears ghosts; every action, every thought, every word seems haunted by the past and the horrors of humanity. There is no anchor, no context to make anything real. Changes are too vast and unpredictable to find a place in. All is disguise, smoke and mirrors, chalk on the wall.
