Crocs are named after the animal crocodile because crocs can go on both the land and the water! So, it is only fitting that these shoes made for water and land are named Crocs. Each croc has exactly 13 holes in it. These holes provide ventilation for the water and moisture. A Croc action figure made by Kenner toys in 1998 featured a tail and dinosaur-like feet, unlike the comics character.

Croc had characteristically formed close bonds with the men in his gang and was outraged when one of them was critically injured by serial killer Victor Zsasz. Though desperate to kill Zsasz, himself a patient of Doctor Leslie Thompkins, Croc agreed to abide by the cease-fire that she had declared in the makeshift hospital. Croc's true origin is unknown, brief comments in his first episode imply he may be the product of military experiments or trifled with the wrong kind of voodoo in the Bayou (due to his Cajun accent). Its equally possible that (like the more well known origins of Killer Croc in the comic series) he was simply born this way and ended up in a circus freak show.
