About this deal

Joe Fedewa has been writing about technology for over a decade. He has been covering Android and the rest of the Google ecosystem for years, reviewing devices, hosting podcasts, filming videos, and writing tutorials. As well as connecting your Android device to Droid Transfer over your local WiFi network, you can also connect your Android device to your computer using a USB cable. In addition to his extensive writing experience, Chris has been interviewed as a technology expert on TV news and radio shows. He gave advice on dark web scans on Miami's NBC 6, discussed Windows XP's demise on WGN-TV's Midday News in Chicago, and shared his CES experiences on WJR-AM's Guy Gordon Show in Detroit.

USB is supposedly universal, but there are so many different types of USB cables and connections. Why is this? As it turns out, they each serve different functions, mainly to preserve compatibility and support new devices. Chris was a PCWorld columnist for two years. He founded PCWorld's "World Beyond Windows" column, which covered the latest developments in open-source operating systems like Linux and Chrome OS. Beyond the column, he wrote about everything from Windows to tech travel tips. If your phone has a micro-USB port, you will need an MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) adapter, which has a micro USB plug on one end (for your phone) and an HDMI port on the other end (for an HDMI cable that connects to your TV). This will only work for screen mirroring if both your TV and your phone support MHL. [2] X Research source In a standard USB C cable, there are Type C connectors on both sides, and have been adopted by various smartphone companies. This is primarily due to the fast data transfer rate, as the cable has 24 pins, and is ideal for connecting monitors, charging high-powered devices, and transferring data in a business environment.

Data Transfer Failures: If the data transfer process is interrupted or fails, you can attempt the following steps: For transferring data between Android phones using a USB cable, you will need a standard USB to micro USB cable or a USB-C to USB-C cable, depending on the type of charging port your phones have. Ensure that the cable supports data transfer, as some cables may be meant solely for charging purposes. Transfer the data in smaller batches, rather than trying to transfer a large amount of data at once. Type-A: The standard flat, rectangular interface that you find on one end of nearly every USB cable. Most computers have multiple USB-A ports for connecting peripherals. You'll find them on game consoles, TVs, and other devices too. This cable only inserts in one way. Often referred to as “male”, as they plug into a “female” port, it is important to understand that there are two elements of USB standard to consider; the physical connector shape and the underlying protocol (speed). Some cables have the same connector at both ends and are named accordingly—for example, a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable. Interested in USB charging for the office? Although USB Type A is still the most used connector, the USB Type C are becoming increasingly more popular. Type C connectors differ in appearance compared to the previous USB types, as they are asymmetrical and have a small and thin appearance. One major difference is that the USB C is reversible; meaning it does not matter which way the connector is facing. On the old phone, you will receive a notification asking if you want to allow data transfer. Tap “Allow” or “OK” to proceed.
