About this deal

Dialogue is natural sounding and given all the directionality it needs, did get a tad quiet when Gwen was leaving her father the second time, but otherwise never lost in the mix.

I’mma Do My Own Thing” Interdimensional Destiny (1080p; 8:26): A look at the many questions Miles faces in the movie. In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse the tone is about becoming an adult and spreading one's wings to figure out what one wants to be as Morales is hounded by his parents about his school work and staying close to home during his college years. After something goes awry in Stacy's universe, she is called into action by a collective of Spider-people from all universes to try and save the day when and wherever they can. Headed by Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O'Hara (Oscar Isaac) this collective allows Stacy to reteam with Morales who wants nothing more than to help out and be the best he can be. Just as he finally feels like he's being accepted, Milese soon realizes that his views of being a hero clash with Miguel's and the collective of Spider-people forcing Miles and Gwen to question their beliefs of right and wrong. The summer success and popularity of Across the Spider-Verse is not without controversy, though. Several animators came forward with claims of unsustainable working conditions imposed by producer Phil Lord during the making of the film, including numerous revisions and 11-hour workdays, seven days a week, forcing 100 animators to leave the project as a result. Viewers also complained about sound mixing issues during the movie's first week of its theatrical run, saying they had trouble hearing the dialogue over the music, although the studio later fixed the issue. Designing Spiders and Spots– There are a lot of characters in this film and we get a look at just a sampling of them all. Can you say “massive undertaking?” Raising a Hero– I personally felt that a little too much time was paid to the families in this installment, but this feature at least explains why.

Forget that it’s an upscale, this Spidey image is out-of-this-world gorgeous. There aren’t enough superlatives to express how good this image is.

In the first installment, the movie centered on Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) who is thrust into a universe of endless possibilities inside the multi-verse where met new Spider characters along the way including Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld). In this sequel, the film follows Morales just as much as it centers on Stacy as the two young adults try and understand their powers and that the multi-verse exists while keeping it all secret from their loved ones. It's a great parallel story where each character can learn from one another in different ways. Scratches, Score and The Music of the Multiverse– At only five minutes, we get a peek at what it took to score the film along with some of the musical choices in this one.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Other Editions

Creating the Ultimate Spider-Man Movie– The obligatory “making of…” feature that tells of the trials and tribulations of how this movie was made, to make it bigger, better, etc. but still retain the magic that the first one had. By and large, this film did everything it was supposed to. The same visual elements that made the first so memorable are more at play here and I found it exhilarating to watch. It’ll most likely require a few viewings to soak everything in. That said, I couldn’t get into this one as much as I’d have liked. It’s almost like there was too much going on. Or maybe it’s that it’s been five years since I saw the first and I could/should have done a little brush up before diving head first into this one. That and, this really isn’t a spoiler, this is only the first of a two part finale. And let’s just say that they aren’t too discreet about how they “end” this one. But the same elements are at play here (yes, I realize I said that in my opening sentence). We get more of Miles and Gwen as well as a new slew of Spider-Man’s that you didn’t even know existed (Lego Spider-Man included). This one delivers on anything and everything it was supposed to, now the wait for “Part II” is upon us. Video: How’s it look? Upon release, both Spider-Verse films received high praise from us. In our review of Into the Spider-Verse, we gave it a 9/10 and called it “a dynamic visual experience unlike any other,” alongside stating that it was “a memorable big-screen debut” for Miles Morales. We gave Across the Spider-Verse a high score as well, landing on an 8/10 in our review and stating that it “surges with visual inventiveness and vibrance in an undeniably strong evolution of the style established in Into the Spider-Verse.” Detail is perfect, you’d expect as much being held in the digital realm, with everything being pinpoint accurate representing the artists’ ‘pen’ without missing a beat. Lyric Videos– Three total: “Annihilate” by Metro Boomin, Swae Lee, Lil Wayne and Offset, and “Calling” by Metro Boomin, Nav, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Swae Lee.
