About this deal

Archibald finally let out a deep sigh. "I'll admit to you that I'm a little disappointed. It would have been frightfully amusing to have Thorn's betrothed at my disposal." Berenilde – Thorn’s aunt, she is a calculating and ambitious woman who seeks to manipulate Ophelia to further her own agenda.

And when Berenilde specifically tells her “Listen, this is important, Gustave is going to approach you with an offer, tell me at once when he does” what does she do when Gustave indeed approaches her? NOTHING. Does she warn Berenilde? OF COURSE NOT. I swear she’s dumber than a goat. Fatico a comprendere come sia possibile tra l'altro, considerare vagamente interessante o romanticizzare la mancanza di tatto, educazione e i modi sessisti di Thorn. Family and relationships – The novel is mostly focused on family and relationships, and the author explores their complexities, particularly the tension between duty and love. Potenzialmente il libro della vita ma dobbiamo fare i conti con qualche caduta di stile che rovina una lettura così piacevole. Plain-spoken, headstrong Ophelia cares little about appearances. Her ability to read the past of objects is unmatched in all of Anima and, what’s more, she possesses the ability to travel through mirrors, a skill passed down to her from previous generations. Her idyllic life is disrupted, however, when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn and influential member of a distant clan. Ophelia must leave all she knows behind and follow her fiancé to Citaceleste, the capital of a cold, icy ark known as the Pole, where danger lurks around every corner and nobody can be trusted. There, in the presence of her inscrutable future husband, Ophelia slowly realizes that she is a pawn in a political game that will have far-reaching ramifications not only for her but for her entire world. Those with preschoolers can begin with Journeys of Imagination, a story-based course with weekly themes. I'm Ready to Learn provides more-academic readiness skills for math, language, science, and other subjects. The two courses coordinate with each other but can be used on their own.

We have another character calling a woman a slut just because she was sleeping with her brother and we have another character who ... ugh... let me just show you.. As the story unfolds Dabos gradually reveals to us more and more information about the world Ophelia inhabits. Like a time release photograph the picture develops slowly, but this allows us to appreciate it even more. We learn that at some point in the past a calamity happened and the land masses were split into various arks scattered throughout the world. This event is referred to as The Rupture. Ophelia is a hero for the ages, and I hope this series becomes the next big one that grabs the imaginations of young adults and adults alike.”I knew once Archibald showed up and joked about taking advantage of Ophelia things weren't going to be good. I should've called it quits right then.

Also, sooo many repetitions. Here’s how it is: the author gives a defining trait to each character. And she doesn’t want you to forget those assigned traits so she kindly reminds you every.single.time.they.talk. Berenilde is gorgeous and has tattoos. Ophélie has “heavy dark curls” (how many times does she say those exact words??) The aunt has "horse-like teeth". All of these are repeated a hundred times throughout the book, the most important one being….. Thorn is tall, y’all. I am not kidding, every single time Ophélie looked at him, she HAD to say something about how much of a giant he is, how tall his legs are, how gigantic he is, how small she is compared to how tall he is, because he is a giant, and when she borrows his coat it's so huge because he's so tall and she's so small, and how she gets dizzy just looking at him because she’s so short and he’s so freakishly tall, because, you know, he’s a giant and he’s skinny but did you know that he is also very tall?.... I GET IT! It got exasperating. The mirror visitor series has created such a unique world as I have rarely read before. You are thrown right into the middle of Ophelia's life at the beginning and it is a wild roller coaster ride with all sorts of whimsical, yet somehow lovable characters. Especially all their little quirks like Thorn's dice or Ophelia's scarf or their powers made this interesting. The world can be a little difficult to understand at times, but once you get the hang of it, the author's imagination gives the reader great pleasure. It is one of the most enjoyable series I have read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well executed fantasy story. For readers of all ages, A Winter’s Promise is a fantastical story of intrigue and suspense that is becoming a worldwide cult phenomenon.Berenilde, hahahhahha, you won't know if she's you alley or your enemy! I did wonder at her incredible crush on their patriarch... It's a hard world that Thorn has lived in if this is his only ally... And the one character I did like? It was Ophelia’s scarf. Yes, you read that right. I loved her scarf, which is alive and has a mind of it’s own. I wanted to read that story, about Ophelia and her scarf! The other thing we find out is that technology on this planet is a strange combination that mixes magical abilities with late 19th and early 20th century science. For instance Ophelia travels from Animas to The Pole by Zeppelin. On The Pole she not only meets her fiancé’s extended family, and other families, but discovers the various powers each family group possesses. Roseline –A member of the Dragon House and Thorn’s cousin, she is a haughty and disdainful woman who views Ophelia as a threat to her own position.
