Although the obvious method of playing this radio is through Milwaukee M18 batteries, it can actually charge those batteries when plugged into an AC outlet. Runtime is up to 12 hours and the radio has the ability to charge your mobile devices when plugged into the wall.
Weather protection– If your intention is to work outdoors, you need to look for a radio that can be able to withstand the weather conditions. Most manufacturers provide information on the level of weather resistance. Waterproofing is especially important as moisture tends to ruin electrical equipment if exposed for long periods.

While I seem to get slightly better sound from the DeWalt ToughSystem radio, overall, the sound quality is still very good. How Much Volume Do You Get? Sound quality is excellent - this radio consists of a class D amplifier and a digital sound processor which offers a distortion free, high power and high efficiency sound. There are also 2x subwoofer drivers and it features a bandwidth of 30Hz - 18KHz. Water-resistant – can withstand up to 5 minutes of exposure to rain giving you plenty of time to get it undercover should the heavens open. The top of the Dewalt ToughSystem Radio and Charger DWST08810 has a sealed compartment that requires two hands to open – its awkward to operate, to say the least. Inside this compartment there is storage room for the 24V/2A charging cord, and also an area approx. 5-3/8” x 4” x 1” deep perfect for cell phones or other items.
Can be powered by AC using a standard 3 pin plug, please note a battery still needs to be in the radio when powered by mains.
The radio charger is IP54 Rated for water and dust resistance. All of the compartments have rubber seals and clip securely closed. Radio Reception
