About this deal

But Twelve is full of anger and when a fellow student at the lodge causes her to get angry, the two are sent to the dungeons for the night as punishment.

Along the way of their mission they discover things about themselves and meet lots of creatures that they could never have imagined. Every time I thought I knew where the plot was heading, it swiftly changed direction and I loved this.

Although an outcast among her fellow huntlings, Twelve is quite happy learning how to use all the weapons in the lodge and how to beat the fearsome creatures outside the high stone walls protecting the lodge.

Beim Lesen stellte ich jedoch recht bald fest, dass hinter den ganzen Charakteren eine eigene Geschichte steckte, die es zu entdecken galt. The book is about a 13 year old girl who has been at the Hunters Lodge for a few years now training to be a Hunter with the other huntlings about her age.

Thank you to the author, Aisling Fowler, and the publisher, Harper Collins Children's Books, for this opportunity. At the start of the book she's experienced the worst moments anyone could ever imagine, and it's made her hard and full of rage. Născută din foc”, de Aisling Fowler, ne aruncă în mijlocul unui masacru ce, odată dezlănțuit, nu prea mai poate fi oprit, cel mult întârziat. I loved that we were kept guessing for so long, but with so many beasties to battle along the way you don't have too much time to sit and decipher exactly what's going on. From brash, confident Five to shy, dreamy Seven, cantankerous Elder Hoarfrost, and even Twelve’s pet squirrel Widge, I came to feel like I knew – and cared about – all of them, and I loved watching their relationships with both Twelve and with each other develop.I really empathised with both her stubbornness and determination, and her desire to avoid further hurt by cutting herself off from those around her. With non-stop action, multidimensional characters, subtle queer side rep, exciting world building and a melancholy yet captivating darkness shadowing the story, this was a solid start to a new magical adventure series and I'm already eager for book two. Nur zusammen können sie ihre Freunde befreien und das Böse bekämpfen, doch schaffen sie es zusammenzuhalten.

Determined to save her, Twelve teams up with Dog; a stone guardian and one of the only people who seem interested. since it’s a middle grade fantasy (for ages 9-12 i believe) i knew it would be a easy read and a good break from the usual stuff but i didn’t expect it to be just as good as it is. Dog is fantastic, and you can’t help but feel for him as the ‘designated adult’ trying to ride herd on a group of children, especially one that struggles to get along. She had steel in her that appealed to me, and as we got to know more about her and what she had lost and sacrificed she continued to grow on me and is absolutely my favourite.Twelve is a fierce warrior even if she is often brave on the outside when her inner self is in complete turmoil.
