About this deal

Can't afford Christmas this year, and looking for what help is available? Whether you're on a low income, or have had some sort of financial disaster such as a loss of job and are struggling to afford Christmas this year, there are some wonderful organisations out there that can help you. Opt for plant-based alternatives to dairy cream. There are several alternatives to dairy cream now available in the shops, including soya and oat alternatives to cream, so try these to reduce the amount of saturated fat in your Christmas deserts. Avoid creams that contain coconut or palm oil as these contain high levels of saturated fat. Other lower saturated fat options are 0% yogurt, lite crème fraiche or making your own custard with skimmed milk.

Have a break from large meals with a bowl of soup. Having a bowl of soup is a great option when you need a break from big meals over Christmas. As long as you avoid creamy versions, they are normally low calorie and at the same time they are very satisfying and keep you feeling fuller for longer. Try our delicious soup recipes. The second spellbinding act is sure to add a little fairytale sparkle. Imagine coming face-to-face with a 7ft living Snow Globe. This magical human Snow Globe glides gracefully through crowds to the sound of festive music. Push the button on the front of the Snow Globe and watch as snowflakes surround the beautiful Snow Queen and her ornately decorated winter wonderland scene. If you're going to be somewhere unfamiliar for Christmas, think about what you need to help you cope. Are there things you can bring to make you feel more comfortable? Or is there somewhere you can go to take a break?

Talk about your plans in advance. It might help to agree on things such as budgets or timings beforehand. For example, you could agree not to give presents this year, or decide a set amount to spend. Our Christmas food cabins will delight guests with delicious winter warming treats on offer, including mulled wine and the chance to huddle around our fire pits to toast marshmallows. Regifting – January (White Elephant Parties): One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. We all end up with stuff we’d prefer not to have, and an entertaining way to swap gifts with friends is to host a gift reswapping party – also called a White Elephant party. In short, everyone brings one gift which are placed in the centre of the room. The first person takes a gift, then the second person can either “steal” that gift, or take their own. It continues until everyone has a gift. Low’s original If You Were Born Today reminds us of their slow-core origins, with a sparkling, clean electric guitar and minimal percussion the only accompaniments needed for the heavenly harmonies. Like all Low music, it’s music that seems born of somewhere else, somewhere pure and heavenly yet somehow in all of us. Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas is sad, but Mimi Parker’s? It’s something almost unbelievably precious, a creation to hold close. Hers is the loneliest voice in the world that paradoxically makes you feel infinitely less alone.

How you cope with the costs of Christmas will depend on your circumstances. You might not find all of these tips realistic. But it may help to try some of them: Suggest an activity or an easy way to move on, if you want to help end an unwanted conversation. For example, this could be playing a game, or taking a screen break if you're on a video call. That said, I’m not the best person to talk about Christmas. Because I probably would just cancel it ;) So today’s post is a collaborative effort brought to you by the recent participants of my recent WASTEless course. Together we brainstormed ideas for how to have a low waste Christmas. If you don’t want to cancel Christmas, but the thought of all the excess wrapping, plastic decorations, gifts that end up in the charity shop within weeks of Christmas day and fighting all the food waste fills you with dread, today’s post is for you. Because it is possible to have a low waste Christmas, I promise. If you're in hospital or a care home, see what activities might be running over Christmas that you might want to take part in.Glow family favourites such as snow machines and our magical Wishing Tree will return. Plus, see new fun-filled LED see-saw photo opportunities and light-up stepping stones!

Think about what might be difficult about Christmas for you, and if there's anything that may help you cope. It might help to write this down. For example:Just Enough: Probably the biggest challenge at Christmas, when we want to have extras and be prepared for unexpected visitors. Meal planning can help with this. Be realistic about how much people will eat. The event will also see the return of Ghost Caribou, towering above the audience at more than 13ft tall, these impressive caribou are sure to immerse guests in tales of lost homes, impossible migrations, and seeds of hope. Supermarket giant ASDA has started giving away all their remaining vegetables on Christmas eve. You can help yourself to as much as you like! So why not grab enough to last you a few weeks - you can even batch cook some nutritious vegetable soups. The veg was reduced down to 0p around 5pm and the stores shut at 7pm so leave it as late as possible. Here's how to do Christmas Dinner on a Budget Like so many, we were deeply affected by the passing of Low’s Mimi Parker. Everyone touched by this music has an origin story with Low. Their music is often played in hushed spaces, revelling in reverence, sprinkling the corners of whatever room you hear it in with a warm, sometimes desolate, human glow. For me it was hearing their breakthrough record Secret Name on the recommendation from a friend but for many it was their revelatory take on festive songs that make up their “Christmas” album. Try to avoid comparisons with the Christmas you see in adverts and social media. These often do not reflect reality and can make us feel bad about ourselves. It may help to take breaks from social media.

Plus, on the Marwell Hall drive and dotted around the park, we’ll have festive food cabins with delicious hot chocolates, doughnuts and “Glownuts”, loaded fries, bratwurst sausages, nachos and more! Gluten free, dairy free and vegan options will be available. Offers Add the rest of the dry ingredients and spices, then mix. In a separate bowl, beat the marmalade, oil, apple juice, honey, eggs, brandy and sherry until blended and frothy (you could use a food processor), then pour it over the dry ingredients.

Juggling Inferno will return for a second year for some of the premium nights with their magnificent fire juggling performances. Christmas is a magical time of year, but for some families, the pressure to provide presents, decorations, new outfits, Santa visits, and all the other festivities that come with it can be a huge financial burden.
