About this deal

What is it like traveling without sight? On the road to a memorial party a man tries to come to terms with grief as well as navigate the world as a blind person. There is something about this author's writing style that just feels so comfortable to me. It also helps that he does tell a good tale too. Oh and he writes some of the best characters that are really easy for me to connect with emotionally. At one point in the book Cara, a wheelchair user and one of the three main characters, has this to say about it: If you struggle with those triggers, please, please, please, please, PLEASE. Consider if you really But just remember that...Look, this is difficult to say, but she’s gone, Sean...it’s like I said before. It’s all those drugs she was on, sweetie. That’s all it is.”

Being brave and finding the strength to voice our feelings, thoughts take such a big step. But that step, could change everything. Whoever you are, wherever you are in the world, whatever pain you are dealing with, there is help. Talk to your family, friends or professional help or just someone you could trust and am comfortable with. There is so many solutions, it might not be easy, but help will always be there to help. The pain might never go away, but in those hard times, there will be love and comfort when we have somebody to go through it with. This book is about three girls who are dealing with depression and anxiety. Life seems too much for them. Especially Mehreen. She’s the main focus in this book, I suppose. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reading copy in exchange for an honest review! It seems like a miracle when they sign their lives away to 'mementomori.com'; it seems like their fantasies of escaping this world can finally become an actuality. We also see bits of the girl's family or especially their mothers. Their relationship with them and how their mother's have their own problems but they too deal with it differently. The way they communicate or trying to help their daughters are too different. It is honestly heartbreaking because we all know our mothers try their best to be the absolute best for their children but they too have their flaws. I first read Yasmin’s short story in A Change is Gonna Come and really loved it so I was really looking forward to reading her debut book. So I knew as soon as I heard about this book that I would love it and it did not disappoint! In the present day, Jonathan is grieving after the loss of his father. A cold, distant man, he was not easy to love, but at least while he lived there was hope for reconciliation. Then a detective turns up on Jonathan’s doorstep to question him about crimes he believes Jonathan’s father may have committed long ago…

Olivia appears to have the perfect life. She's from a wealthy family, she's sociable, she's kind... but that's all she lets on. Underneath the faultless costume her mother has constructed, Olivia is a victim of sexual abuse. And her abuser is moving in next week. It is a wonderful story of a look at life through pictures, and everything that Catherine was thinking at those times, but just could say. From fun vacations, to the birth of their child, to friends they have had, to affairs both real and unreal. It is a story to show Sean that she had a good life, a loving life, and one she wished she could continue, but knows she cannot. It is a story of loosing a partner to illness, and having to survive those following months after her death, but to have that one time a week to hear her voice. To be happy, mad, angry, sad, and joyful with her. To hear her say she had a good life and that she regrets nothing. This book is something else. It's a really strong story intertwined with mental illnesses, physical disability, sexual abuse and all of that wrapped in a suicidal pact of three completely different girls with completely different problems. Sean has lost his wife Catherine to cancer, and she has left him a box containing voice messages and photographs for him to open, one a week, over 29 weeks. These reveal her thoughts and experiences of their life together, beginning when they met as teenagers until she was aware her life was ebbing away as her illness took over. The description of her sensing the shadows drawing her into them, and away from the path of pain she was in, was so evocative and absolutely heartbreaking.

Sean’s much-loved wife Catherine dies of cancer and following his return from her funeral he’s given a wrapped cardboard box by family friend Maggie. The box contains twenty-nine envelopes each with a photograph and tape that Catherine recorded on a Dictaphone machine before she died. As Sean opens them, one envelope every Sunday, he relives their life together and it feels that Catherine is still with him in spirit if not in body. Co jsme si nikdy neřekli, je titulem, který má rozhodně co předat a moc mile mě překvapil a zasáhl. Je to přesně to a ještě víc, co bych si přála od povedené youngadultovky s velkým přesahem🙏🏻 Ok, the characters are chefs kiss! I loved each and every one of them, and their bravery and courage just made me feel more attached to each of them.
