About this deal

The Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece has a facing length of 23 mm. As a result of the shorter facing of this mouthpiece compared to the Custom Series, it is easier to play and obtain a rich, distinctive saxophone sound, which is especially beneficial for beginners.

Now, it’s a little tough to make an entire full comparison between the 4C and 5C mouthpieces as they come in all kinds of sizes, types, and that’s excluding the custom series (CM). However, the main characteristics are still the same, and that’s what we explore in this section. Size Not only does the superb Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece deliver on the harmony and clarity of the intonation, but it also delivers on the incredibly consistent performance. The Yamaha 4C and 5C mouthpieces have three models, soprano, alto, and tenor. But the 5C also has a baritone model. The Selmer S-80 C* is an amazing choice for a step-up alto sax mouthpiece. Its tip opening is 1.7, and the facing length is 22; I assume that refers to millimeters, but it’s unclear. No matter what your age (suits ages 10 – 110), the Yamaha 4C Alto Sax mouthpiece will give you a nice sound, will be easy to play and will allow you to get the most out of your beginners saxophone.

Consider the following mouthpieces when you want to get better at the alto sax. D’Addario Rico Graftonite The mouthpiece is one of the most imperative components of the saxophone since the quality of the sound generated by a saxophone is largely dependent on the quality of the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is the piece of the instrument where you can blow air for the first time, and it is here where the basic resonance happens. Thus, it has a significant impact on the sound. As a result, the mouthpiece impacts the ease with which you can play and the beauty of your intonation. What this means for the player is that there wouldn’t be a difference in vibration intensity between the two mouthpieces if you’re using the corresponding model size, as they have the same facing lengths. So, if you want more vibrations, opt for the larger model. The 4C is not the smallest size mouthpiece you can get, but it does the best job in the most scenarios. Yamaha Corporation of America sells products only through authorized dealers who have committed to provide excellent pre-sale and post-sale customer service and to uphold Yamaha standards. Authorized Yamaha dealers are the only retailers that can convey

The difference between a “beginner / intermediate” mouthpiece and a “professional” mouthpiece is the size of the gap between the tip and the reed. Compare that with the 5C’s soprano, alto, and tenor, with 1.25mm, 1.70mm, 1.80mm tip openings, respectively, and facing lengths of 19mm, 23mm, and 24mm, respectively. As for the baritone model, it has a 2.10mm tip opening and a whopping 28mm facing length.

These mouthpieces are made out of high-quality phenol resin (plastic) and feature a design based upon the top grade Yamaha Custom Series (ie the more expensive ones). They are extremely consistent in specifications and playing quality, and offer excellent value for their price. The facing (where the reed sits) of this series is slightly shorter than that of the Custom Series making them easier to play, and easier for beginning students to achieve a rich characteristic saxophone sound. Each mouthpiece is handmade and play tested to make sure it works well. Unfortunately, you’ll need to get a ligature and mouthpiece cap separately. Pros The difference would be in the airflow that enters the instrument, as the 5C models come with larger tip openings, which allows the player to control the amount of air that enters the instrument, and therefore gives them more control over the sound.
