About this deal

The launch of Roust UK will see the natural end of the five-year partnership between Roust and William Grant & Sons UK as of December 2020. The two companies will continue their strong working relationships across other international markets in the EMEA region, including Poland, Hungary and France. The notion of a "Russian standard" for vodka is a little silly. After all, we're talking about a country where going on a five-day, alcohol-driven bender is somewhat socially acceptable. During Gorbachev's famous vodka ban, the "standard" drinking options included moonshine, window cleaner, cologne, insecticide, wallpaper paste, and pretty much anything else that contained alcohol or could fermented to produce it. The Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) described Elit by the following qualities: “Clear color. Aromas of sweet mascarpone, nut brittle, and flint with a satiny, crisp, dry light body and a smooth, buoyant lemon custard and a hint of herbs and pepper finish. An outstanding silky-soft vodka for martinis.” We agree.

One of Smirnoff's main rivals in the UK vodka market is, or perhaps was, Russian Standard vodka. Supermarkets have pulled Russian Standard from shelves, due to the brand's links with Russia, where it is still made, in St Petersburg.

Since 2015, Roust has partnered with William Grant & Sons UK Ltd to manage the distribution of Russian Standard, Green Mark and Żubrówka vodkas across Off and On-Trade channels. Jonathan Ashworth, who will head up the new Roust UK organisation, commented, “I would like to thank William Grant & Sons UK for helping advance the growth and momentum of our portfolio in the UK allowing us to develop this hybrid approach to distributing our brands. With the major Grocers representing a significant part of our UK business, we will be focusing Roust UK’s attention in this sector, while working with Paragon Brands to manage our other key customers.” One of the best-known brands that appear Russian but are not is Smirnoff. Smirnoff started in Moscow but relocated ages ago. It belongs to the British beverage company Diageo and is produced in Illinois, US. [ 3] All over the world, people associate Vodka directly with Russia. That's why some brands jumped onto this and created bottles that sound like their Vodka is Russian-made when it's actually not. Flavor: Stoli's flavor is solid. It's made from wheat and rye, which gives it a smooth, ever so slightly sweet and creamy taste. Vodka snobs argue that it's largely a mixer, but it stands up nicely on its own, particularly if you toss the bottle in the freezer.

Only the highest quality wheat, rye, and water are used for this Vodka made with traditional Russian distilling techniques. Stoli Elit is made using a traditional “freeze filtration” method inspired by the Russian practice of leaving casks out in freezing conditions to age and mature during distillation. Roust will manage the import and distribution of the Roust portfolio in the UK which includes premium, iconic vodka brands Russian Standard, Żubrówka and Green Mark. Recently named the world’s best vodka by the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI), Stolichnaya’s Elit Vodka is an ultra-lavish vodka that screams luxury; from the elegant bottle design to the velvety mouthfeel and touch of sweetness on the palate. In terms of party cachet, Putinka is sure to fascinate and/or repel any Ukrainians, Chechnyans, Georgians, Poles or pretty much anyone who reads a newspaper. The spirits are blended with water from Lake Ladoga. The proximity of Lake Ladoga was one of the main reasons for the company's decision to establish its distillery in Saint Petersburg. The lake's underground sources provide one of the softest waters naturally available. Some ultra-premium vodkas have a lovely subtle taste and hints of bold flavor, while others are made smooth without any fire or afterburn. Beluga Russian Vodka is one of the only vodkas that can lay claim to doing both, which runs counter to the claim you should “only drink cheap plain vodka because it’s a neutral spirit and the good liquor is no different.” Millions of people have fled the country, with thousands of British people opening up their homes to Ukrainian refugees. Russian Standard (Russian: Ру́сский Станда́рт, tr. Rússkу Standárt, IPA: [ˈrusːkʲɪj stɐnˈdart]) is a major Russian company producing the vodka brand of the same name. The brand was founded by Roustam Tariko in 1998.is the world’s 3rd largest vodka brand and is available in more than 80 markets worldwide. In 2019, Żubrówka Biała – Poland’s best-selling vodka brand – was successfully launched across the UK impulse channel.
