About this deal

In addition to Formula 1, the sport's other major categories are all afforded ample coverage. The Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships, key rungs on the professional single-seat ladder, are chronicled, as is the rise of Formula E, which is rapidly gaining considerable support from major manufacturers. One of the greatest strengths of AUTOCOURSE through the years has been its superb photographic coverage. Many of the world’s leading motor sport photographers have been regular contributors, their images providing the ultimate pictorial record of each racing season.

Indeed. I think that's what did happen, although the manner in which Villeneuve beat Schumacher at the last race seemed to be a real hit with Alan Henry. Whereas Hakkinen had Schumacher nowhere near him at the finale of 1998, it wasn't the same nail biting, wheel to wheel finish. Impressions count for alot obviously. In late 2009, CMG confirmed a deal to sell on the title to Icon Publishing (which was formed by Bryn Williams again with Steve Small who has a long established relationship with the annual from being the Picture Editor). This has been written by the newly crowned champion since 1963 and is accompanied by their signature. The only exception was in 1991, when Nobuhiko Kawamoto, the chief of Honda's F1 engine programme, wrote it instead of Ayrton Senna, after Senna was not acclaimed the Number One driver in the annual the previous year, despite winning the title. The Jim Clark Cup was run in 1987 for normally aspirated cars, with their teams challenging for the Colin Chapman Trophy. Points were 9-6-4-3-2-1 as per the main championship, although at the start of the season there were not enough atmo cars competing. The Tyrrells of Palmer and Streiff dominated (Tyrrell were helped in being the only team to run 2 cars throughout the season) with Palmer eventually winning. Towards the end of the year the championship got more competitive as Capelli in the March and the Larrousse drivers caught up with the Tyrrells. I think all the atmo cars ran Cosworth engines. The atmo cars could also score points in the regular championship, and Palmer was first atmo car in that too, helped by 5th at Monaco and 4th in Australia.

AUTOCOURSE includes all the hectic action from the top Touring Car series – the World Touring Car Cup and the British Touring Car Championships as well as the DTM Series running GT cars from Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Ferrari. I am not a Programmer myself (But working in the IT) but on Windows 10 with some Programms you still should be able to use Basic on a modern computer. Oh than i understand it wrong. Then its hard to find much from 72/81. I found some Laptimes at the Autosprint Archive, but only to a few races. In a single essential volume, AUTOCOURSE provides the most comprehensive record of world motor sport, complete with full results not found anywhere in a single volume. Motor racing’s other major categories are also fully covered: Toyota’s WEC and Le Mans sports car successes; the closely-fought Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships, featuring emerging young talent from around all continents of the world; and the tightly fought Formula E series for electric powered single seaters. The brilliant Brazilian may justifiably claim to be the best driver of his era, yet Senna's level of achievement varied more dramatically in 1993 than ever before. His wins at Interlagos, Donnington Park and Suzuka served to confirm his matchless genius in the wet, and his victory at Adelaide was surely the most decisive success achieved by anybody all year. Yet there was a mid-season trough during which his frustration at not having the best car produced a string of uncharacteristically indifferent performances. The problem is the balance between F1 and "everything else". Personally I'd like to see more "everything else", particularly sports cars and GTs; and now the "ladder" below F1 is more complex than ever before, how's Autocourse going to cover it? - it's clear that GP2 is not the only way to the top now.

I actually enjoyed the level of detail in the Official Bernie Formula One Annuals of 2001 and 2002 - there was a huge amount of coverage of qualifying and race reports team by team. As for adding things - looking at the '03 IRL/Indy annual - a lot more historic and/or feature articles in the Clymer and Hungness vein, including those of a nature far more esoteric than the rather generic Jim Clark and "Homemade Heroes" pieces in '03 that easily could've been used in just about any other year.Aside from one-off driver and team biographies branded as Autocourse publications, there are also two other annuals: Rallycourse (1982-2008), which covers rallying, and Motocourse (since 1976), which covers motorcycle road racing. Autocourse is a series of annuals covering motor racing, and Formula One in particular. The annuals cover a long period of the sport's history, from 1951 to the present day, and, as such, are highly collectible. From the other side of the Atlantic, Gordon Kirby provides his usual insightful analysis of the US racing scene which majors on the compelling action of the ever-growing Indycar series and the gruelling NASCAR series. Although Schumacher declared that he believed Senna would have won the year's championship without the tragedy at Imola, it was a turning point in a career that would include seven world championships. DC in 1994 started 8/16 and is ranked 5th. So I think Autocourse dodged the issue on rating MS for 99!!!
