About this deal

I remember I couldn't have been much older than five and was wearing scuffed, red Clarks shoes and didn't seem to have a care in the world until I came across a small snail right in my path. And Fane is trying to escape the deal with the otherfolk that he made in a childish attempt to avenge his own family.

Lyndall Clipstone's lush prose lends itself to a world both dark and elegant, brimming with monsters and a young woman brave enough to face them. I remember seeing Elizabeth Taylor — who would go on to star with my grandfather in The Mirror Crack'd — in National Velvet when I was still five. As I was working on this, I ended up with a headache, so I get up and get some water… and as I was pouring myself a glass, I wondered if dehydration could be the cost of magic. Her young adult novels include Illusive, Deceptive, The Hearts We Sold, The Bone Houses, and the forthcoming The Drowned Woods. Their obvious chemistry comes across in subtle interactions and well-drawn dialog as their loyalties are tested throughout the novel. After his years as an iron fetch, Fane is left with few illusions about his own place in the world or the grief-stricken bargain he trapped himself in years ago. Equally shocking and darkly funny, Emily’s story is packed with fascinating, star-laden anecdotes, startling insights into movie making and touching personal revelations. Characters have to deal with questions on what’s right and wrong and how to cope with knowing that you did something you regret throughout, but our main characters consistently choose to try and do what’s right for the majority rather than the few.

There is also a female introduced who had a past history with Mer, and I couldn’t help but love her as well. It makes for a lot of tension and overall you really just won’t want to put this book down until everything is resolved. I so desperately wanted to retaliate, as children do, but couldn't think of a suitably witty retort (I was equally only about three) and so I ran home to my mother and cried. About the Author Emily Lloyd-Jones grew up on a vineyard in rural Oregon, where she played in evergreen forests and learned to fear sheep.

However, Mum and Dad were now homeless, because Mum had given up her room in the London flat when she'd gone to join Dad in Stratford.

Talented beautiful and determined Emily sets off to Hollywood after her award winning gripping debut at 16 Wish you were here. Now, in her searingly honest autobiography, Emily describes the incredible highs and agonising lows she experienced through a tumultuous acting career. As most of the plays of the time had a very middle-class theme and every actor possessed a double-barrelled name, he thought he needed a name change to fit in. Emily, in my view, as the mother of a daughter who suffers from anxiety and depression, it seems you just didn't get enough family love and attention when you really needed it. Mum says Dad's mother was quite aghast at meeting her for the first time, particularly appalled by her false lashes and mini-skirted attire.

Her next role was in the 1989 film In Country opposite Bruce Willis, though the two stars reportedly did not get along during filming. Cultural diversity wasn't a philosophy widely practised in Islington then but our little quarter in Milner Square had more than most. Once upon a time, the kingdoms of Wales were rife with magic and conflict – and eighteen-year-old Mererid ‘Mer’ is well-acquainted with both. Emily Lloyd, has a strong family around her and she clearly draws so much strength and support from them. A tough gravedigger girl, a soft mapmaker boy who can never find his way, and their undead goat adventure through mountains and folklore to face the curse of risen corpses and long-hidden truths about themselves.

The book is very well written and I highly recommend it but don’t expect a fluff celebrity bio, as that it’s definitely not.
