About this deal

The dark rum category has grown substantially over the past 18 months. Retailers and bars are seeing a new breed of enthusiast looking to make rum their speciality, given its wide-reaching flavour profile. Choices range from more traditional Caribbean styles to a host of incredible, often innovative bottlings from diverse locations around the world. Rum remains the third biggest spirits category in the world – and past editions of The Rum & Cachaça Masters have shown premium developments in the category. But what stood out in this year’s blind-tasting competition? This year’s award winners spanned multiple categories, from flavoured expressions to un-aged varieties

One way to enjoy hazelnut is to mix it with other nuts. This can be done in a simple mix of equal parts hazelnut and another nut, or in a more complex mix with different types of nuts. Hazelnut goes well with both sweet and savory mixes. Colour – “The pale gold colour of the Prosecco turned into a light pink once the Candy Cane Gin was added.” Sprite is a lemon-lime soft drink that is sweet and refreshing. It is made with carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, and natural flavors. Beautiful Rum, it’s smooth and nutty. The idea to blend Hazelnut into flavour turns out to be a very good idea. Will buy again.

The super-premium, limited edition rum has taken inspiration from historical rums in the brand’s collection, alongside the unique flavour profiles they exhibited over half a century ago. Hiram Walker themselves recommend turning this delicious classic into a lovely hazelnut cappuccino, using 1.5 parts hazelnut liqueur and five parts espresso. It also goes well in coffee and in the infamous chocolate martini. 5. Drago Hazelnut Liqueur Sitting at 63% ABV, this punchy bottling is a great base for a Jamaican Wray and Ting – a refreshing Highball serve made with 50ml of Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum, topped with Ting soda. Method: Combine the Belgrove Hazelnut Rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice & lime juice in a shaker with ice, and shake for 10 seconds. Method: Build over ice and stir gently to mix. Drizzle 5ml Jura Rum Cask finish on top and garnish with a fresh lime wedge or wheel. Serve in a highball glass. Holyrood Distillery definitely delivered in the Dark Rum – Aged Over 13 Years flight, netting a Master medal for its Elizabeth Yard – Travellers Distillery – Ungrogged American Oak No 1 Char Octave. Smith liked this rum’s “light spiciness with just the right amount of sweetness”. Method: Pour the rum, pineapple juice and coconut water into a large stein or tankard. Add a handful of ice and mix to combine. Top with the Einstök White Ale. Garnish with three pineapple leaves. Making your own liqueur produces a cleaner, nuttier flavor than its commercial counterparts and allows you to experiment with additions like herbs and fruit.
