About this deal

Yes this is Lee Childs first work of non-fiction (well apart from if you do not consider Reachers Rules) and is also being used as a bit of a poster book for the Times Literary Supplement (TLS). If you are like I once was and you’ve never considered having big dreams because you didn’t think they could happen, know that on the journey you’re about to take you will discover everything you need to make your dreams – however impossible they may seem – come true.

In 2021, I read Rhonda Byrne's newest installment in the series, The Greatest Secret, which became my new favorite of Secret books.Try to operate on a daily basis with a quieted mind, not a mind that's always second-guessing and wondering if you're worthy. Negative thoughts like, "I don't know if I can handle this," "This is too big for me," "I've never been here before," "In the past I've come up short here or there," draw your focus away from performing like you're capable. We are likely to carry those thoughts with us and we won't be as good as we could be. The grants, rights, and releases made hereby are irrevocable. Should any provision or part of any provision of this release and license be void or unenforceable, such provision or part thereof will be deemed omitted, and this release and license with such provision or part thereof omitted will remain in full force and effect. Look at those moments where you're feeling blissful, moments when time just flies by, when you really feel lit up, when you really feel inspired. Think about, "Where have I been most inspired? Where have I really been happy?" Even if it was a few moments in your life, those are doorways showing you what your dream is about. A surf supply store gave him wholesale prices on items he needed. He was given equipment, lights, and shelling from his dad, to set up his shaving studio.

Okay that aside this is quite an interesting read. You have Child review the history (in his mind at least) of the concept of the "hero" yes there is a bit of word entomology both from the wisdom of Child and reference to his daughter - but mainly it is the idea or concept of the hero and not only where it came from but more importantly why. If you are dreaming about something and nothing's happening, write out what you want to achieve and have it in front of you when you wake up in the morning. One way or another, if you're focused on it, the mind leads you in that direction. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it will achieve. The more you have something on your mind, the more it is going to happen. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

Hero is a motivational and inspirational book. This is a short resume of what this book will feed you; find your bliss (essentially your dream), always be grateful, take chances, visualise and believe in your dream, and don’t ever give up (we cannot forget that one). No one is born into a perfect life. If you were, you wouldn't have anything to strive for, and you wouldn't have the urge to create something with your life.

The goal is to put out positive energy and feel positive about your life. That's where the work is. That's why the true revolution is a personal revolution. The first half of the book is about the progression of language and creating words. This part of the book feels like Childs is given a topic, and he and he let's rip for that chapter. For example, the first chapter starts from a poppy to heroine. I still do not understand why this chapter was there.

Now here is Lee Child, inventor of an iconic folk hero, writing a "book" purporting to tell us all about "The Hero" -- but instead informing us, in his closing sentences, not only that the "hero" concept is applied too promiscuously, but that it is a bogus concept to be discarded. Layered into this interesting essay is a small amount of biological and archaeological anthropology. It was unexpected, but not as unexpected as the sudden insertion of the "aquatic ape hypothesis"--a pseudoscientific hypothesis with scant evidence and even more counter-evidence, yet one that Child describes as having "some acceptance." Sure. The same way there is "some acceptance" of a flat Earth. You have to be clear. Clarity is what gives you power. Take the time to get clear on what you want and then you'll start taking a step toward it. But if you don't know what you want then you'll allow life to dictate the terms to you. Many people give up on their dreams or don't even begin to pursue them because from where they are standing they can't see the whole path of their dream. No successful person has ever known how his or her dream would happen. They simply believed that it would happen, and didn't give up until it had. Your dream will never end up being smaller than what you thought. It will only become greater, in ways you could never have imagined. Every obstacle or challenge you encounter on the Hero's journey transforms you as you acquire the strength of character and the qualities you need to overcome the challenge. As for me, I was born into a humble working-class family in Australia. I didn’t have any big aspirations in my early years because I didn’t think big dreams were possible for me. But in 2004, my life changed forever when I discovered a secret, and a huge dream took over me – to share the secret I had discovered with the world. In 2006, The Secret film and book were released, and they swept the globe, reaching tens of millions of people.
