Pyrilutamide (KX-826) is under development for the treatment of androgen associated alopecia and acne vulgaris.The drug candidate is for external use and administered through topical route. It acts by targeting androgen receptor. It was also under development for the treatment of whelk and diabetic foot ulcer. In Kintor Pharma's stage II clinical trials 120 patients were treated with 5mg/day applied topically as a 0.5% solution. The result was a significant increase in hair density with no serious adverse events reported. This clinical study was done to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of the topical AR antagonist, pyrilutamide, following multiple ascending dose administrations of 3mg, 12mg, 48mg, and 96mg. Pyrilutamide (developmental code name KX-826) is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen (NSAA) – specifically, a selective high- affinity silent antagonist of the androgen receptor (AR) – which is under development by Suzhou Kintor Pharmaceuticals, inc., a subsidiary of Kintor Pharmaceutical Limited, for the potential treatment of androgenic alopecia (androgen-dependent scalp hair loss) [1] and acne in China and the United States. [2] [3] As of October 2022, it is in phase 3 clinical trials for androgenic alopecia and phase 2 trials for acne. It does seem like it's so far proving very effective in terms of the clinical trial data for hair loss and i do think for a lot of guys it will be interesting to see if it could possibly replace both Finasteride and Minoxodil as a combination treatment to just relying on a single treatment for those suffering hair loss in the early stages. The blood concentration of pyrilutamide among the subjects remained extremely low throughout the study. In terms of safety, there were no associated severe adverse drug events. Yes, hair regrowth unfortunately is something that's eluding us with only cases where male to female transitions are taking place and that level of pharmacology seems to show anecdotally complete regrowth of hair. Obviously not something a majority of biological males wishing to remain so would ever consider but i do actually agree with you that combining this with Finasteride could show a strong synergistic element but only time will tell.
