The Journal in a Day - The Doctoral College - Southampton

Over the course of a single day, PGRs will peer review, edit, and publish an entire issue of a new academic journal, Carpe Diem. Articles and multimedia pieces will be submitted in advance, and contributors must be available on the day of the event to respond to peer review. Hunkered down on Avenue Campus and online, a group of volunteers will work their magic to produce this innovative academic experiment.Get involved by volunteering for the day!The Day (roughly):From 8:00Roles assigned to volunteersPeer reviewing beginsReviewer reports back to authors12:00 - 13:00 The Journal Process - A talk by Real Life Editors!Three real life editors will be illuminating the publishing process and taking your questions on how to get your research published and what a career in academic published is like. Stephanie Hathaway is a lecturer in the medieval and modern languages dept at Oxford and was editor for the newly published edition of Cerae, an Open Access medieval and early modern journal. Lee Walters is an associate professor in Philosophy at Southampton, and is associate editor of Analysis.
